Re: Official Pouring Rights Partner
I think this is the moment that the resistance to the new regime finally ignites - the real ale Nazis who hang out in the Supporters Club will be profoundly outraged by this

Re: Official Pouring Rights Partner
Goes against the community spirit does this, club is obviously looking to take business away from the Coach and Horses and The Technical, whilst the same applies to the Supporters Club.
Can't see it working though to be honest, many have their pre match rituals and doubt many will want to mill about in the cold of the undercrofts just cause they can get a pint at the ground.

Re: Official Pouring Rights Partner
Like I’ve said previously, Orient cannot be any better places to partner with only local vendors to supply food and drink. Not only would it be supporting the community and smaller business, but would offer a bit of variety compare to the usual boring, uninspired football food.
There’s about 50 independent breweries within 5 miles of Leyton, loads of independent coffee brewers, independent artisan pizza, burger and pie places all dotted around east London.

Re: Official Pouring Rights Partner
Unlikely to take my business away from The Technical with only 2 beers in the East Stand. I would be happy to go into the ground at 1.30pm for a couple of beers ifFellowo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 5:29 pm Goes against the community spirit does this, club is obviously looking to take business away from the Coach and Horses and The Technical, whilst the same applies to the Supporters Club.

I bet it was a particularly lengthy process.Danny Macklin, CEO, added, “Following an extensive pouring rights tendering process with a number of the industry leaders..."

Re: Official Pouring Rights Partner
Think it was Heineken before providing the industrial slops and all the mixers, etc. You can see why the FC only wants to flog keg beer and goes to a one-stop provider - but I agree it would be a nice community gesture to at least supplement it with a local supplier, but I guess the fear of cost/spoilage of leftovers might stop them considering it, as could the contract with the mega-brewery peeps who tend to have punters over a, er, barrel. (and, besides, the SC’s existence with its ales lets them off the hook in this regard).

Think how much passing trade the local outlets gain on Os match days....Fellowo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 5:29 pm Goes against the community spirit does this, club is obviously looking to take business away from the Coach and Horses and The Technical, whilst the same applies to the Supporters Club.

Re: Official Pouring Rights Partner
Exactly, without that trade many will no doubt close. But at the end of the day Danny's remit is to try and bring in as much revenue into the club as he can.Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 8:39 pmThink how much passing trade the local outlets gain on Os match days....Fellowo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 5:29 pm Goes against the community spirit does this, club is obviously looking to take business away from the Coach and Horses and The Technical, whilst the same applies to the Supporters Club.

Re: Official Pouring Rights Partner
The fact that he has brought in another partner paying the club money each and every year of the deal is only a good thing.
Keep going Danny every penny raised is a penny that can be spent on the clubs progression.

Re: Official Pouring Rights Partner
Some people will drink anything and this will suit them.
Others who prefer something more pleasant will still use the local hostelries
Can't see it making much difference to local trade, I don't buy beer in the ground and this doesn't entice me at all

Re: Official Pouring Rights Partner
True - though Macklin had said he was open to a more progressive policy on craft, I guess the costs associated with refitting the bar areas were a bit steep at the moment. And if he thinks we can live with it because the real drinking goes on afterwards (and/or before) with the in-ground action being simply maintenance drinking, then he's absolutely right.slacker wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 8:23 pm Think it was Heineken before providing the industrial slops and all the mixers, etc. But in the longer-run, if they want people to spend more time - and thus money - in the ground itself, this is something they will have to look into. Perhaps in our all new purpose built stadium built atop the ruins of the Olympic Stadium post-Brexit, after the corned-beef eating gammon turn on each other and destroy what remains of their "civilisation".

Re: Official Pouring Rights Partner
30 years ago, maybe. But it's just mass produced produced muck these days. As for the 'O's Lager', it's probably rebadged 'Harp' or something. GK probably put the cheapest bid in, hardly a partner and they'd wouldn't make much out of being a 'pouring partner' (whatever that means) to a former non-league side.

Fully aware, but that's the only 'proper' bar within the stands and it can get very busy.

Re: Official Pouring Rights Partner
Let's face it: it could have been much worse. I know that Greene King have swallowed up Rayments, Morlands and others to the earn the nickname "Greedy King", but their ales are historic. We shall have to wait and see what kind of drinks will be available at the home of football.StockholmO wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 2:44 am30 years ago, maybe.
