Matt Young

Post by Cheshunto »

Not sure how he gets a place in the starting XI
With him and Coleman in that midfield it was like 9 v 11 in that first half
I like to see players come through our academy but I don’t think Matt is ready yet for the hurly burly football in L2

I think he’s decent…or will be in the future.

Unfortunately we risk messing up his development by throwing him into pressure games because our recruitment has been so shocking. Where’s Reilly? Where’s Brown?

It’s not as extreme, but one of the most upsetting part of the FB era was seeing the kids out there getting battered and messing up their development.

I think Matt will be quality for us in 1-2 years but it’s clearly a bit early for him now and hauling him off at HT won’t help

Agreed, now is not the time for him.

Not sure throwing him into the number 10 role is fair on him either.

Good question about Reilly. Is he a good player because I've yet to see him play . ?

Yeah, I tend to agree about Young……..he’s not ready yet and maybe needs a spell in the NL to toughen him up, hopefully that won’t be with Orient.
Reilly was sitting with the other players not involved in the Gallery today, god knows if he’s injured again.
I didn’t see Brown who seems to have disappeared.

That is the game indeed. The best we have is "a recurrence of something" as Harrold said the other day

If they're good enough they're old enough...
...ours in CM aren't good enough

Whether that's down to talent or inexperience only time will tell but we've got too many players learning when we need people to get the job done.

We had our chance to bring in those sort of experienced players during the January transfer window and blew it.

Young just looked totally out of his depth yesterday. The game just completely passed him by. And, frankly Coleman isn't much better. His first touch is awful which is why he gets caught in possession so often and I can't believe how slow he is for a young lad. As far as Reilly is concerned, here we are well into March and he is yet to start a league game for us. He has totalled 67 minutes on the pitch in four substitute appearances. As Chocolate Brownie said, Brown and Moss have disappeared already and Nouble looks exactly what he is - a guy who was surplus to requirements at a team that is every bit as bad as us. Pratley looks like this is a season too far for him. God help any manager who is prepared to take us on.

The levels of waste is incredible,

The number of players who have contributed nothing due to either injuries or not being good enough is simply staggering.

As bad as Ray and Nobble are, at least they’re playing.

On the other forum there's a thread where Gallen gave out the names of the original targets. Coleman and Brown don't feature on that list so make of that what you will...

If that’s true then the blame lays squarely on the transfer committee. If we go down you can blame them . If somehow we survive I sincerely hope the transfer committee idea is shelved . Sign who are chosen manager wants . If we can’t get them then don’t sign inferior players just for the sake of it . That last transfer window was a disaster which could see us relegated. Where are the League 1 or championship players promised to push us on for promotion . Now instead we’re fighting relegation with sub standard players

The names are here, there was another discussion that mentioned Gallen being in the pub after a game but trying to dig that out from the search results

Got the other thread now (scroll 3/4 down the page)

Gallen spoke openly in the pub a couple of weeks back about who their targets were. Think it was after the Salford game. Crowley wasn't mentioned but Nigel said we were in for him in his interview on the club's website.

My take on it is that KJ's hands were tied by the budget and the players we got were the only realistic options available. Basically you either take these players or nothing.

There's a clear difference between the level of players wanted though (league one ready and experienced) and the players we got
