Which anarchic series was better?

The Young Ones for me - totally pricked the pomposity in Thatcher’s Britain.

Monty Python, classic comedy, known and loved all over the World. Young Ones, IMO, more of a ''Cult'' following in the UK for the Comedy Series but I would guess largely unknown outside of UK.

Monty Python for me. Also some hilarious movies to make you laugh, especially The Holy Grail and Life Of Brian. The Young Ones was funny but not as funny as Monty Python. Both were an acquired taste I suppose.

Fawlty Towers, now who could NOT laugh in that comedy series !
Python, amongst others, liked the ministry of funny walks and the argument sketch in Python.
Yes agree an age thing as well, much like music etc.

Much of the 60s and 70s comedy would not be allowed on tv now.

Comedies like Mind Your Language and Love Thy Neighbour would probably be banned today, the head of Ofcom has said

One that definitely would not have aired would have been Till Death Us Do Part. There would have been ructions.

The young ones was a top comedy from my youth days, very funny.

However, Monty python is and was on a different level altogether. There is no comparison between the two.

Add to that list ''It Ain't Half Hot Mum'' Also some of the things said by Major Gowan in Fawlty Towers. Quote.......... ''But the BBC has cut from a repeat of the episode The Germans (screened many times since it was first seen in 1975) a speech in which the blimpish hotel resident Major Gowen uses two outlawed racial insults while reporting on a trip to see an England v India cricket match at the Oval.''

Python were ground breaking in that nothing like that had been seen before, and in some ways the Young ones was a "love child" of python.

I enjoyed both shows but sadly in this new PC world of ours we are unlikely to see something as radical as both shows again
