Jackett got it wrong today

Formation wrong, no width. Absent midfield.

Why are we playing five defenders at home?

Question is what can you do with that midfield though? Pratley gets run ragged with Kyprianou doing nothing alongside him and the other option is... ummm... Kemp

Five defenders is fine when two of then are Archibald and James pushing forward. Five defenders with wing backs that don't create, plus two defensive midfielders leaves two up front with no support. When nothings happening, making like for like changes without changing shape isn't going to make a lot of difference.

Early in the season im sure we played three up front. I would have gone with

Vig
Mitchell Beckles Ogie Wood
Pratley Kyprianou Kemp
Smyth Smith Drinan

You'd need to replace at least one if not both of Kyrpianou and Kemp to give Pratley any chance in there. Neither of those two will help with the hard graft unfortunately.

If we had a proper centre mid instead of Kemp that's a possibility. Too lightweight with him there.

If we are playing 3 CD we should be playing
Theo & Khan as Attacking WB and taking the game to teams, especially at home.
Hopefully Theo is fit for Tues?

Need some creativity. Not many other options.

I thought Ling assembled a great squad? Or have people wised up to that now

The squad was always too small

On the commentary they mentioned Reilly is no longer injured now so presumably he will come into contention soon.

Wait for it...

"It's like a new signing"

Interview is up

"inside and outside we want to improve" around 4:50 he says this twice... suggesting he wants more from the club to sort the squad out? Strange turn of phrase could be taken a few ways.

Ready to play one game then break down again with the window slammed firmly shut behind him.

We're still expecting at least another few signings with a Clay replacement, another centre mid and a replacement for Omotoye who can offer something different to the team.

With the run of games coming up that really does need to be ideally at least four signings.

The formation did not allow us to show any initiative, that and the fact we have no one who can do the killer pass

Clay was out today and was missed, which in itself, sums up the quality of our midfield. Any midfield that "misses" Clay is not really fit for purpose.

We did start the season with a 4-3-3.

I wouldn’t mind reverting to that but 1) it won’t really solve our lack of width with that personel, 2) Mitchell would have to be dropped as he’s not comfortable enough on the ball to play RB, 3) we haven’t got 3 CMs

And that’s the truth.

The first 11 is decent, but beyond that it’s stekchy.

Someone also needs to remind KJ the game is called football, you use your foot to play the ball, it’s not called hoof ball. Get it down and play fast incisive football.

He also mentions about failing to beat the first man when we had a corner in the 91st min, sorry how many times have we failed to beat the first man at corners ALL season long?

We tried to play football, Port Vale just wouldn’t let us.

KJ's interviews seem to include an ever growing sense of jam tomorrow. I'm less convinced about how good this side is tbh.

He's out injured , he was seen with James in a restaurant having lunch today and was asked by a supporter when he might be back , he said possibly Tuesday but more likely next Saturday 🤔

I think he’s injured, but hopefully he’ll be back soon, he was sorely missed today.

Injured but with this knowledge in hand the club are moving heaven and earth to covert the loan into a signing.
