Rich Tea & Digestives

Post by Lucky7 »

The old boy reckons in his day they used to put butter jam and the likes on these biscuits

Has he got me on a wind up here?

Butter certainly. Never heard of trying it with jam.

Mind you I come from a generation that mixed margarine with sugar for a treat.

I used to love licking the bowl too.

But then mum got a little more middle class and bought a toilet brush.

Beef dripping on bread was really nice, I am not so sure it would be so nice now with the fat being added to a lot of joints.

Butter on digestives is really nice, if you buy a cheese biscuit selection box it may well contain digestive biscuits.

Neither the digestive or the rich tea biscuit has ever impressed me even when butter, jam or even chocolate spread are added. Sorry.

Can we have a thread about dentures next please.

Rich Tea biscuits have been scientifically proven to be the best for dunking. Just don’t submerge for more than a micro-second, mind - or you’ll have a soggy paste in the bottom of your brew. Taste crap, mind.

Digestives are just about alright on a cheese board - even if no match for the king of crackers (Ritz) - but again bloody boring on their own.

I’ve never had either with any sort of spread, yet I could imagine both might be improved with a bit of added flavour.

Digestives & butter & jam .

Cilla Black talked about cutting an orange in half
Then crumbling then rubbing an oxo cube on to it &
