Butter certainly. Never heard of trying it with jam.
Mind you I come from a generation that mixed margarine with sugar for a treat.

Beef dripping on bread was really nice, I am not so sure it would be so nice now with the fat being added to a lot of joints.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 5:02 pm I have heard my mum talking of having beef dripping spread on bread. Reckoned it was a real tasty treat !!

Butter on digestives is really nice, if you buy a cheese biscuit selection box it may well contain digestive biscuits.

Re: Rich Tea & Digestives
Neither the digestive or the rich tea biscuit has ever impressed me even when butter, jam or even chocolate spread are added. Sorry.
Can we have a thread about dentures next please.

Re: Rich Tea & Digestives
Rich Tea biscuits have been scientifically proven to be the best for dunking. Just don’t submerge for more than a micro-second, mind - or you’ll have a soggy paste in the bottom of your brew. Taste crap, mind.
Digestives are just about alright on a cheese board - even if no match for the king of crackers (Ritz) - but again bloody boring on their own.
I’ve never had either with any sort of spread, yet I could imagine both might be improved with a bit of added flavour.
