Can someone at the club ..

In an official capacity please state why
we either choose to play that game today
or were informed by the EFL that we had
to play it ..
I’ll accept the defeat as our away performances
generally have been poor this season but to go
into today’s game with only 3 outfield subs, one
of which hasn’t started a league game and another
who has been injured most of the season ..
If the club want to be serious about achieving promotion
then you can’t go into a game with 3 subs and missing
senior players ..
Most teams are able to get there fixtures postponed and
yet we choose to play a crucial fixture with literally our
barebones..

Excellent point. It's really frustrating .

The club tweeted that it didn’t meet the requirements for being postponed, whatever they are. So the club sounds like it tried.

Maybe we did not have enough Covid related absentees.

I presume we only had two senior squad players out with Covid. A different question, given the size of PL squads, is how most of their games were postponed.

The requirements are that you have 14 players available.
Danny Mac already had a sitmf with someone on twitter for suggesting the club were naive.

If it were another club I reckon one or two more mystery injuries would've been found to avoid playing the game

Spot on ..
Why all of a sudden make Smyth available
when he’s been out all season ..
It seems the kind of decision making you’d
see over the marshes on a Sunday morning,
When you’d turn up with a bare 11 and know
there’s no chance of a sub coming on ...

Let's just get on with the season, as fans/supporters give KJ, the players and Board our 110% support and get promotion.
If the mad Italian had been in-charge during this pandemic, our club would be no more, so I'll give KJ, ML, Big Nige and his associates every bit of support I can. I may not agree with their actions, but I'll support them, I want us in the Championship.

The bottom line is, the defeat today has probably put an end to our hopes of automatic promotion and even a play off place

“Little Leyton Orient” - original poster is spot on to raise this issue.
KJ stated that the missing COVID players were not carrying the Virus. From this we can assume that these are unvaccinated players, that are subject to “pingdemic” for the rest of the season and given the current environment will be missing on a regular basis.
Point re Smyth is absolutely spot on - the numbers don’t add up to deny this??
It’s as though we chose to play the game and the result has totally backfired on us. 3 games until we get reinforcements, not exactly setting ourselves up for that final half push. It was a game that in hindsight we could not afford to play/LOSE

In which case we'd have likely faced action for not fulfilling the fixture. Then because you slate everything the club does you'd be going after them because of that.

You seem to think we can just choose to call off a game and the league will just say "Ok lads, that's fine" without looking into the circumstances further or wanting evidence. That wouldnt be the case, especially if Tranmere objected.
The point about Smyth is not spot on. Had he been injured/unavailable then we'd have still had the minimum number of players needed for the game but given ourselves even more of a handicap.
What does "It's as if they chose to play the game" mean? We don't just pick and choose what games we want to play and avoid the ones we don't fancy.

Or they could just stop being thickos and get vaccinated?
I’m surprised the club, via our medical team, have t had this discussion with them.

Maybe it would be an astute move by the club when the January window opens to only bring in players that have been fully vaccinated.

As it seems that only 3 jabs has a chance of stopping infection with Omicron, players not jabbed won't be protected until well into the New Year

If they’re not vaccinated at all now, we’re potentially f*cked for the rest of the season.
As harsh as it sounds, it is practical to only consider vaccinated players in January.

Funnily enough just heard Jurgen Klopp on the radio saying he will only sign fully vaccinated players in January.
