You’re right, that is what JG was talking about in his interview.

They’re clearly not impressed with him for that.

Agree Hotdogs. Sounds like he was not doing helping himself to recover and be match fit.

I'm only surprised that not one single Boarder has been on this thread calling him "Sicknote" and a "wage thief" yet.

Standards have fallen on this Board. I date the downward spiral from around the time the Chinese introduced the Covids to the world.

He's got some way to go before he can be compared to the original sicknote - Darren Anderton

November 1992: Hernia operation after joining Spurs. Out six weeks.
October 1994: Torn groin muscle, out five weeks.
August 1995: Hernia operation. misses two weeks
October 1995: Groin injury, out eight months.
June 1996: Groin surgery following Euro 96.
September 1996: Groin injury, five weeks out.
May 1997: Groin operation, plays 16 games all season.
July 1997: Pre-season hamstring injury, misses first four months of season.
December 1997: Knee injury, out four weeks.
February 1998: Groin surgery, out three months.
September 1999: Achilles surgery, out three months.
May 2000: Misses Euro 2000 to recover from Achilles injury.
February 2001: Achilles injury, out three months.

Are we 100% sure the many groin injuries were football related and not down to excessive PUMPING of good looking burdz?

A wage thief is someone who doesn't try. Smyth is not that. Its too early to call him a sick note - we have had far sicker players than him!

Many thanks for the clarification and for putting me right on that important distinction. I'm not sure a wage thief can't also be a player who fakes injury, doesn't play because of it but still collects a wage.

What do others think?

I suppose its a small mercy he didn't have a broken ankle like that guy we signed a couple of years ago. A pattern is emerging.

He is going to be fresh for the run in to the play off's if we are still in contention.

And if broken ankle guy has still got a broken ankle it makes sense to get him in come the January window.

You would have to have a time machine or be able to see the future.
If so this would be an under using of this gift.

Ok maybe that one was too specific. Let's just fall back on the signing any old crocked pro who used to be good before recurring and near permanent injury stalled his career policy.

I am sure he will make good or they will try sell him in the summer
