In another tweet on Saturday, Mr Musk said: "Note, I do not take a cash salary or bonus from anywhere. I only have stock, thus the only way for me to pay taxes personally is to sell stock.
How does he buy a pint then?

It's not about need it's about the wants of a rich man.
Anyway the real reason isn't for him to realise a gain and pay tax on it. The real reason is that it allows him to ramp up the stock and sell it.
Normally its difficult for an owner like him to sell shares without upsetting other investors and the market. He can now argue that he NEEDS to do it due to popular demand. He's a devious little sh*t.
