Ah well good luck to him

Been numerous speculative rumours especially about Bonne and Koroma over recent months. Whether or not this has any firm foundation I am not sure, however appears to have more credence than most of them.
If true then to be honest it’s a move and opportunity that Bonne couldn’t turn down.
Travis hint last night that we may see one or two departures adds ‘weight’ to it.

There was talk of a release clause in his contract when the first rumours appeared a few weeks back.
If it turns out to be true (looks that way) then I wish him well. Did the business for us in his time here and gave it his all. Can't ask for more than that.

Maybe. But the price seems wrong. The other ascept that doea not quite make sense is that Bonne wants to play 1st team football. Charlton in the Championship does not guarantee that.

Harrold and Alabi up front it is then. Maybe we should get Dave Bassett in as manager..

The fee is totally wrong given his age and goals scored.

Would be a mistake for Charlton in my opinion- I don't see him being ready for that level yet.
You can just smell certain characters waiting to pile in on the club when one of our players is sold.

The players Nigel mentioned were in my opinion the ones on the fringes who Justin wanted to move on. I doubt we will sell anyone who he had wanted to keep and I doubt that this policy would change now.
This is fake news.

The fringe ones had already been dealt with when contracts were handed out. I think we will be seeing some of our assets leaving this week.

Travis said one or two maybe leaving. But wants to keep our young assets, with the cavaet that if a good deal for LOFC and the player come in, it would be considered. Bear in mind that we turned down bids in January for 3 players totalling over a £1m.
Turley and Dayton have not signed yet.
So I will trust what Travis said.

Depends on length of contract left also?
If a player gets all starry eyed and doesn't want to stay there is not a lot we can do about it.

I trust what he said. He said that he needs to think about what's best for the player but also for LOFC, then talks about the club being sustainable, the owners having to refinance, and the lack of season ticket sales this year.
Surely everyone can see what this is leading up to.

People have such warped opinions when it comes to our players. We obviously love him and see him week in week out but for a team like Charlton the fact is:
- He hasn't ever scored above non-league (a couple for col u but thats about it).
- He is 23 (not old but also not young for a player taking a step up, or two)
- He only has one year left on his contract
- I assume he only signed an extension and was not let go in the Jan window because there were agreements in place that if he stays and gets us over the line, we let him move.
- I assume we have a decent add on included, and potentially bonus' based on how many he scored.
- This may be his only shot at the championship, he has to take it.
- He's been great for us, a real all rounder but he wont get as many chances in the champ and his first touch aint the best.

Also, Tranmere lost Andy Cook after he was their top scorer in the NL when they got promoted. They lost him and still went up.

Agreed with all those statements but not sure what your point is? That Charlton won't be interested in him?
I could see a club like that taking a punt on him, having him in the squad and seeing how far they can develop him in the next 12 months. He's a grafter and sure would work hard on rectifying the aspects of his game he needs to improve.

Googled this shock transfer news and seems like a few news reports on this transfer. I am shocked if this all turns out to be true, and a transfer fee of a mere £200,000 ? What can you get in a player nowadays for a chickenfeed transfer fee like that ?
Charlton Athletic are set to announce their first signing of the season, with Macauley Bonne set to arrive at The Valleyaccording to The Sun’s Phil Cadden.
https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/charl ... o-striker/
The Leyton Orient striker was in impressive form last season, as he netted 23 goals for them as they won promotion back into the Football League.
It is reported that the fee is in the region of £200,000, and the Addicks will be hoping that Bonne can hit the ground running in the Championship.
Lee Bowyer’s side won promotion back into the Championship last season, as they beat Sunderland in the League One play-off final in May.
Bonne has previously been on the books at Ipswich Town and Colchester United previously before moving to Leyton Orient back in 2017.
It had been previously reported by the Shields Gazette, that both Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday were interested in signing the striker.

Been great for us, don't get me wrong, but not even proven at L2 level yet.
Would be very much a fringe player/occasional bench warmer for Charlton I would imagine, and I can't see him going for that; him being the sort of player that likes to play week in week out.
Fingers crossed this will fizzle out, or has no basis at all.

Surprised that Charlton are in the business of buying players given that there owner is in talks to sell the club, don't have a contracted manager and haven't spent for a long while.

Price makes no sense at all. I'm all for not standing in players way if big teams come along, but not to the extent of the club getting robbed on the deal.
I suspect it's agents playing games trying to force other clubs hands. Despite Bonnes words I think he would open to a move.
