Women's team won 13 - 1 BUT...

Really pleased to see the new Women's Team won 13 - 1 at the weekend - well done. I then looked to see what level they are playing at and it appears to be level 9 - but will need this confirmed.

Cannot understand how we got into this situation where we had a competitive level 4 side - and now we are years away (possibly a decade) before being able to return to it!

Were the problems with the women's team so insurmountable that this was the only course of action? I know its history now - but the women's team is also important!

Without incurring wrath, what is the point of it. I shouldn't think many will want to watch level 9 women's soccer.
Is it just to make the club feel politically correct?

I agree, but we did want to watch level 4, with a chance of going higher - not unlike the men's game!

I thought they'd dropped down 2 levels

Actually no, it does look like Level 9, but the North East section must be new.

Gawd the women's pyramid is complicated

They don't necessarily have to wait one year for each promotion as I understand it. It is within the rules they could be promoted straight back to level 4 if they dominate this year and they make the case (infrastructure and financial strength) to the league management committee.

Anyone know if the previous Leyton Orient ladies team are still playing in the League and if so, what is the new name that they go under now ?

They were called Kikk United before Leyton Orient but it seems they didn't revert to that name.

Those who want to watch Orient’s women’s team might just not care so much whether they play in tier 4 or tier 9 right now. Similar to those who watched Orient in the National League; you support who you support whatever tier they are playing in.

Perhaps for those who claim the women’s team is merely pandering to ‘political correctness’ perhaps people could consider that this may just not be the reason that Orient or any club have a women’s team...?!? Women’s football was after all very popular many years ago until the FA banned women’s football from playing at League clubs feeling threatened by the women’s game - perhaps that was “political incorrectness”!

What a shame and sad state of affairs when people are so scared of having positive things for others outside of the mainstream to enjoy they trot out this dull media created tag line again!

The women’s team provides wonderful opportunities for local women to play and for anyone who wants to have the possibility to support our teams as some do with the Academy games... if anyone doesn’t want to watch or support their existence then feel free...personally I’m delighted that Orient has a strong community dynamic.

I'm told they will play at the Bobby Moore Academy with, perhaps, a game at Brisbane Road.

I'm sayin' nuffink.
