An appeal to all
Clearly, Justin’s passing has had a massive impact on everyone and there are wildly differing opinions on what should / shouldn’t be discussed in terms of the future.
I don’t want to shut discussion down but both PJ and I have now locked similar topics, one of which descended into a disgraceful slanging match between 2 boarders now banned and another thread which has been locked tonight before it gets any further out of hand.
Opinions on this subject are going to vary and this is understandable - all we ask is that you keep discussion sensible and respectful to each other. If you feel you can’t do this, we respectfully ask that you step away from your keyboard - should you feel there is an inappropriate post on here, please use the report function (or PM us) and one of us will look into ASAP.
Thanks again to you all.

Well said admin, I just hope that fellow borders could be more respectful at this time and show a little more sensitivity around subject matters.

Re: An appeal to all
I don't think apart from the two squabblers that anyone who has discussed the future has been abusive or insensitive.
Can't see the harm in a specific thread for those of us who wish to discuss what may lie ahead.
Those who feel they may be upset by the content have no need to join in.
People have differing levels of empathy and these sort of events affect individuals in different ways.
Some like to mourn and others like to deal with it by moving on, neither way is right or wrong.

The only people who have been abusive are people who want to stop others discussing something they're not comfortable with.

Re: An appeal to all
This is a very difficult one to get right and I don't envy the mods for their task.
I think the reality is once the initial shock of Justin's loss sunk in it was clear that thoughts would turn to the impact on the team for the future.
I must confess when that thought first crossed my mind I was a bit ashamed of myself but I don't doubt those sorts of thoughts would have been shared by anyone involved with the club at some point, particularly Nigel and Kent.
It comes down to when we consider 'too soon'- 'now is not the time' will soon become 'right, now is the time' .You'll just never get consensus on when that is and as long as people acknowledge that sensitively and with due respect then we can, gradually, move on.

What is to stop these two malignant boarders from coming back onto the board under different names? Are there any safeguards?

When blurting out your next post, just remember that you don’t know who is reading it. The responses from the club these past 2 years show that this forum is seen by more people than you might think.
Have those discussions in private, by all means. But this forum at this time isn’t the place for it.

Re: An appeal to all
I wrote out 5 or 6 different posts in that thread about what I think should happen next but then came off the page every time. Does the world really need to know my opinion about what I think should happen to the Orient manager's job? Not particularly. Whilst that conversation will inevitably be had soon (in the next couple of weeks), I feel like this week is too soon and giving my opinion in those threads only feeds it and my own hypocrisy.

Re: An appeal to all
The Club rightfully closed up all services as a mark of respect and to allow a period of mourning the last couple of days, but it’s back to business today. No matter how hard it will be for the staff - and some fans who are still clearly struggling with their grieving - some attention has to return to the future now. We should take our cue from the Club here. After a death, no matter how tragic, life must go on.

Re: An appeal to all
As ive previously said, everyone shows grief in a different way.
I went to a funeral many years ago, and one of the mourners started laughing.......yes laughing! Afterwards it became apparent from that persons husband that she laughs when shes stressed. Weird reaction, but everyones different.
Justin meant everything to me, and to every Orient supporter, but to talk amongst friends about the future isnt disrespectful.
IMO the mods were wrong to close down legitimate conversation because mainly 2 boarders objected......the vast majority were happy to chat

It was closed down to avoid the topic turning into a repeat of the one from the day before (which is where it looked likely to head).ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 10:18 am As ive previously said, everyone shows grief in a different way.

I think my view on what can / can't be discussed is clear from the opening post as is the request I've made.

Re: An appeal to all
The Club will need to liaise carefully with the Edinburgh family over the next few days. The Edinburgh family are football people and know that things will have to move on and they will but things will be raw until and beyond Justin is laid to rest, it must also be very difficult for people at the club who worked so closely with him.
As things move forward the club will be more forthcoming with information and I think that would be the time to comment more on this board. Justin passed just four days ago and the club have just returned from a period of mourning, we all want whats best for the club but please let's all be patient. the club have handled things magnificently so far so let's be respectful and allow the club to do what they have to over the next few days.
Love and thoughts for the Edinburgh family and Justin's friends and colleagues.

Mate, privately discussing with friends is perfectly understandable.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 10:18 am As ive previously said, everyone shows grief in a different way.

But that's not what people are doing here. This is a public forum that is viewable by all. And we already know that this forum reaches a wider audience than us mere contributors. Have a think about who could be reading this, that's all I'm asking.

This present time belongs to the Edinburgh family, not me not you or anyone else. The most innocent comment can hurt them as they are sensitive to anything. Be strong for them by holding back on certain subjects for later. I lost the love of my life Jan 2018 and boy do i still hurt and cry each day. Trust in O's fans

Don't be too hard on yourself . We all felt safe with Justin at the helm so I think mixed in with all our sad and heartbreaking emotions is worry for the future.

Or just go and discuss your feelings there if you don't accept the mods view for this place. I don't agree with them but I totally respect their wishes.
