Leyton Orient v Newport County

Post by Orient Punxx »

Not too late to make this our first fixture of the season?

Either way it would be fitting that this should be played on a Saturday given its significance and ideally not in the middle of winter with the possibility of postponement.

100% agree with this and I am sure none of the clubs in L2 would disagree if this was the 1st game of the season.

Very little chance of it happening, but I do like this idea. The first home match will be a hugely emotional game with fitting tributes irrespective of who it is against.

Yes, fully agree, whoever we play it will be very emotional, but I don`t think anyone would disagree IF it was Newport County.
Hopefully NOT a midweek game either so Newport fans could attend more easily.

I'm now sitting at my desk blubbing at the thought of both sets of fans singing "We love you Justin" for 90 minutes with no regard for what's going on in the match.

Very sad, still can't quite believe it.

Lovely idea. But you can’t fix fixtures like this.

I saw on Twitter someone mention clapping for 1 minute at 49 minutes for every game we play. Thought that was a rather nice suggestion.

Regarding the fixture list is this not done by a randomised computer programme?

Yes but obviously some interference is permitted with Xmas fixtures etc.

too much clapping? but I feel that would be a nice thing to do for at least home games.

It’s all a bit scouse. I hate the whole clapping on a set minute poo poo.

Black armbands and a minute’s silence for the first game and a permanent banner. Something special for the Newport home game. Hopefully Spurs will be up for a memorial game with all proceeds going to Justin’s family or charity at some point.

Justin's family will decide what form any tribute takes ie a minute's silence or a minute's applause
I favour a minute's applause, but as I say, it's Justin's family who will rightly decide.
It's only about 60 days till the new season kicks off.

The first fixture on Sat 3rd Aug could well be a home game, as West Ham are at home on the Sat 10th.
I was hoping for Crewe away before this tragedy happened. Whoever we play it will be incredibly emotional.
