With an apostrophe, for two reasons - first, 'os' has all manner of meanings (abbreviation for ordnance survey, operating system, oculus sinister (left eye) etc.), and second because at one stage it was a contraction of 'Orientals'.

Being known officially as ‘Apostrophe Man’, I say Os.

The term originated from the team shirt having a large O to the rear. So plural, as in 11 players, gives Os.

Os has always seemed right to me, as Os is plural and not possessive (it belongs to O) or conjunction (O is)

The term Originated from
Fans shouting
"Play up the Orient Play up "
At the start of halfs etc.
(Bit like Pompey Chimes )
Which then became play up the O's .

It's in 1 of Mr Kaufmans books .
( he gathered info from news reports of the day)
The O just represented the Orient in the name .
