Can anyone tell me any benefits for ordinary everyday people from Brexit, in the 6 months or so since we left the EU ?

Good question. It's about time we finally had this debate. I look forward to reading all the balanced discussion points that will now ensue as fellow boarders politely and respectfully engage with each other and use corroborated evidence and reasoning as a basis for persuasion.

Yes I can. Because of all the empty shelves in the shops caused by Brexit ordinary people should be able to save money by not consuming.

I thought a load of drivers was also getting “ pinged “ by the government Covid app. Anyway I went shopping this morning and the shelves were all full.

But it was fishermen and farmers here who made much of the news last week as they complained bitterly about what the EU is doing to them.

Spured by Brexit entry and my inability to live and travel where I want, trouble free, in Europe, I began investigating the possibilty of getting an Irish passport.

There was much talk in my family of both sides having Irish descendants from either side of the fence. After a bit of investigation it looks like it was all true. Thing is I would need to rely on a great grandfather for the passport and as far as I can tell you can only qualify if you want to move to Ireland. Who the f*** wants to go back there?

My investigation was interesting, all of my relatives were foundry workers, mill workers, general labourers, engineers etc. Three died in industrial accidents - one scalding, two mutilations by a machine of some sort.

More later I'm sure.

Yeah, a lot of the middle classes seem to be doing that.

Are you not happy in Scotland?

We very kindly seem to be taking larger numbers of refugees now we are no longer hampered by our EU neighbours across the channel.

I don't to pretend to know a lot about political stuff but I think you will find we left in January 2020 not 2021.
As far as benefits I don't have the knowledge to comment on politics but understand that ordinary everyday people have received far more potentionally life saving vaccinations than our EU friends struggling in their bureaucratic quagmire.

I'm not trying to leave Alba. I was just trying to get an EU passport on the fly to further distance myself from the madness that is England.

I have family in the EU. We used to be able to send small gifts to each other - now each item requires a customs declaration. This is taking us back to as it was about 40 years ago.
Those who had a business trading with EU customers now have complex customs declarations and other paper work to complete. This must be quite galling as they were told that 'Brexit will get rid of red tape' - the opposite has happened.
