Mansfield always seem to make a lot of close season signings but so far without a huge amount of success. If this story is true, good luck to DJ. Scored lots of goals for us in the first half of last season, despite generally minimal service.

They way I see it is, if he can score 20 goals in a gash Orient team his replacement shouldn't have any trouble equaling that in a promotion chasing side.

Confirmed he’s gone.

So long as his replacement scores more goals for us than DJ scores for Mansfield

But he was very much a flash in the pan.
Still, I didn’t think he would go to Mansfield.

Apart from money it's hard to see how Mansfield can be a better move than staying with us.

If he doesn't want to stay with us then that's fine. I'm hopeful we'll get better than him anyway.

Odd player. Contributed little outside of the box but is an excellent finisher. Would've preferred he stay if we go 4-4-2 next season, but he didn't work in a 4-3-3 where your striker needs to have a much stronger all round game and physical presence.

Reading Matt Porter’s comments at the start of pre season, I was assuming this was going to happen. Also assuming the reason he’s gone to Mansfield is to be closer to home, think we’re probably a victim of geography here rather than anything else.

It’s a shame to lose him, I’d rather have kept him, but he quite significantly outperformed his xG this season, so I’m not really expecting another 20 goal season.

It’s very disappointing to lose him but as others have said he’s replaceable . It gives Kenny more breathing space to bring in his own players.

Of course it’s about the money.
The club have probably offered Micky mouse terms to our current players, hence the reason most haven’t signed.
The Keeper and DJ were the only ones worth keeping out of the established pros.

But he was asked to stay and help the playoff bid but told he could leave end of season if that was unsuccessful

not sure I agree with many of the comments on here. I think this is a big loss. He had a poor end to the season, but mainly due to the awful service and system. One of the best finishes that I have seen in an O's shirt, best shot to goal ratio of any of the top 10 league 2 goal scorers last year.
