Any golden oldies remember this group?
Signed by the Beatles and were looking at super stardom only to end in tragic circumstances.
Someone should make a film of this sad story.
Yep, a superb group who people sadly no longer remember.
Peter Ham and Tom Evans wrote the monster hit Without You recorded by Harry Neilson.
This song has been recorded by over 200 different artist.
The writers were ripped off by their American manager and left them penniless.
It tragically resulted in the suicide of both composers.
That song alone should have set them up for life and made them multi millionaires.
Itβs sad that people think Harry Neilson wrote the song.

An interesting story. I must admit I thought it was all Neilson's work. Would indeed make a good film/documentary.

So they are the ones responsible for Mariah Carey screeching and wailing Without You. It is one of the very few pieces of music that would make me smash the vessel it was coming from to pieces.

Itβs a question that comes up on many a pop quiz and most people believe Neilson wrote it.
I would go as far as to say that this group was miles better than the Rolling Stones who had one singer ( debatable) and a few self penned songs that few other artist have recorded.

Peter Ham was a superb guitarist and appeared on several solo Beatle albums.
Many people compared him to Eric Clapton.

They had two 3 songwriters in the group and 3 singers.
Superb musicians who had done Studio work for several other artists.
The thing Jagger had was knowing his worth and was a businessman as well as a pop star.
No one was going to rip him off.

Two things :
1. wrong to say no one remembers them
2. It's NILSSON not NEILSON.
That's all.

The majority of people believe itβs a Harry Nilsson composition.
