The BBC are intimating that Liverpool need a top 4 place to qualify for the Champions League. Are they right? My impression is that, because the winners qualify, and because one of the winners will be Chelsea or Man city, finishing in 5th place will achieve qualification.
Am I right about 5th place, please?

Re: Champions League
They have to finish in top 4. If Chelsea are 5th and win European cup they qualify as well. But if Chelsea are in top 4 and win European cup, only top 4 qualify.
It is like old days of European cup when if champions also won European cup, the runners up didn’t get into European Cup.
