Am I missing something here?

This is criticism of the state of Israel, not anti-semitism, isn't it? Or has this bloke said more than is being reported in this article.

I struggle to understand how this comment is anti-Semitic.

As for being recorded and not being aware. Straight out of an episode of Yes Minister where Sir Humphrey made comments not realising the conversation wa still being recorded. Schoolboy stuff, like Gordon Browns bigot comment some time ago.

Good, glad it's not just me who doesn't get this. I'm seeing all sorts of people pipe up that what he's said is outrageous and he has to go but I just don't get it. I wouldn't go around claiming that Israel is fully responsible for these attempts to discredit Jezza without any evidence, but it's certainly a possibility.

Is someone racist for believing that the powers that be in Russia or America have tried to influence elections in other countries? Of course not.

The taping of him is a bit sneaky, tho.

I THINK it’s because the insinuation is denial of any anti-semitism as it’s a plot by the Israeli embassy...maybe?

Labour seems obsessed with getting everything wrong on this issue. The fella Willsman is stupid, but how does that justify a ban?

Shooting themselves in the foot yet again.

Problem is, with every single move made my labour spun to make them look bad, they could really win either way. Do nothing and they would be told that they are ignoring anti-semitism again and ban him they get accused of going overboard.

Thing is, this guy is probably right. Israel hate Corbyn mainly because he supports the Palestinians, and is critical of Israel.
Did anyone else see the documentary "The Lobby"?
This showed on s secretly filmed video, Israeli officials working for the State of Israel plotting to get rid of all politicians that are not sympathetic to Israel. It's worth a watch.... You can still access it via You Tube.
There's a famous bit where Joan Ryan MP, was bribed with a million quid to help Israel get rid of people who are critical of Israel.
The Israel lobby in the UK are, IMO far too powerful, including many MPs who seem to be more interested in Israel than they do Britain.
You can accuse Russia of anything, but accuse Israel, and you have a ton of bricks fall on you from a great height

It seems in no doubt that Labour has a problem with anti-Semitism, but it’s also fair to say that one may criticise actions of the state of Israel without being anti-Semitic.

Why would you? Have they done anything genocidal recently?

I just wonder if he’s being thrown under the bus to prove that the Labour Party can handle and act quickly on potential anti Semitic remarks? Just a thought.

More likely the truth. Labour have boxed themselves into a corner over the issue in general. Under normal circumstances this type of comment wouldn’t raise an eyebrow but they are so sensitive to the issue and investigation they have gone to the opposite extreme to sort of show how seriously they take it. Jerk reaction in every sense.

All the usual gobshites have voiced their opinion that he has to be expelled immediately and that labour haven’t acted as swiftly and as strongly as they did with Campbell - Watson, Hodge, the Board of Deputies etc etc

Or they just don't like that he's mates with Hamas and his Stalinist fanboys hate Jews. It's interesting that Campbell gets booted out for voting Lib Dem but a Labour member in Lewisham was sharing holocaust memes/Hitler/generally anti-semitic stuff on Facebook is still a member.

Peddling the trope of a conspiracy doesn't matter if you say Israel or Jew, it's one and the same. It's wrong and it's dangerous.

Its not a trope or conspiracy theory when Israeli Embassy staff are caught on camera offering money to Labour Friends of Israel to disrupt the Labour Party. The man in question was quickly recalled to Israel.

What is dangerous is putting out a dragnet and a well funded propoganda campaign to ensnare well meaning people who do not want to see US funded/ Israeli military might and theft of land crush a people who have been there all their lives and those generations before them.

Anyone who looks at the facts honestly could not possibly say Labour has a problem with antisemitism. That's not to say there is none but it has been vastly blown out of proportion when you consider the size of the membership.

Then you've got people like Margaret Hodge who call Corbyn antisemitic when he hasn't said anything detrimental to any race or religious grouping. It's pathetically transparent.

Its almost like Hodge has no political relevance within the Labour Party any more and is determined to use other means to either win it back or destroy it. Sometimes you wonder how strong her socialist beliefs were for a rich lady.

Now heard the full recording and the guy ain’t nice and what he said could be interpreted as anti Semitic but it ain’t cut and dried.

So I assume given all the outrage above that Labour have buckled under pressure and suspended an innocent man, of course pending investigation, yet have no doubt heard the recording too. If they were convinced of his innocence they would not have suspended him they would have defended him.
