Is the Queen likely to abdicate?

She is just a few days short of her 96th birthday.
This article suggests that she believes that she 'has a pact with God' to carry on ...

I suspect that abdication might make people wonder "do we really need Charles & Camilla?" and a royal family to rule over us?

If The Queen, The UK & Brexit manage to beat the Frenchy Record, it will only have taken
309 years to do so . Its hardly an achievement having had so many attempts at it .

The consensus of people who know these things, is that the Queen considers Charles to be a whinger. She thinks that he is ill-equipped to be a Monarch. She has gritted her teeth and will do her utmost to live as long as possible and defer his succession for as long as possible. I think she is right. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!!!!!!

I’m no fanboy of The Royal Family, but have a grudging respect for Brenda’s keen sense of duty in fulfilling her inherited role.
Can’t see her stepping down voluntarily, though you’d imagine she will continue to reduce her public commitments and let the kids substitute for her more often. Even noncey Andrew, if necessary (provided the FBI don’t nab him).

Doubt she will abdicate and let big ears on to the throne. She's wise enough to know what a disaster that will be.
But she will be dead soon and I suppose we can take comfort in that thought. Vive la republic.

As for the republic comment - never in your lifetime - which gives me comfort....

She will be 95 on 21st April, not 96 - born in 1926. She will never abdicate, simply because at her coronation she took an oath to serve until she died. More and more of her duties are being taken over by the heir, Prince Charles and, under certain circumstances he may become Prince Regent, as George IV did when his father, George III became demented and retired to a room in Windsor Castle, growing a beard and playing Handel on a harpsichord all day long, never to be seen again.

There were rumours that he had secretly married her. I seem to recall George IV secretly marrying Maria Fitzherbert and found his 'proper' wife, Caroline of Brunswick utterly repulsive. Don't think Prince Charles is secretly married!

The queen cannot abdicate as it is a god given right.The Archbishop of Canterbury crowned her.Edward the 8th was never crowned so technically did not abdicate.I agree with others here that she will take a back seat and let the other leeches take up the slack.
