Its a dream. There is realistically only 1 place up for grabs and anywhere up to 7 teams aspiring to it.

Six more wins might not be enough.

Just been reading Frank Clarks book and he mentions 12 wins in the last 16 games in his promotion season.

Anything is possible right now, but as I've written elsewhere, i fear we will end up 2 points off of the last play-off position, but I hope I'm proved wrong.

Yep. Even if we won every game we might not make it.

I think we'll finish tantalisingly close, a real "what if" moment if it does turn out that way

The stats are interesting, and guess they hint at the team with the impetus often takes that with them through the play offs - a team finishing fourth can often enter the play offs on a downer having just missed out on the automatic spots.

If that happens we can really let rip at the owners on here for the whole summer.

Well if Jobi can get us that close then he would fully deserve to be offered the managers job on a permanent basis.

Amazing that in the last 10 years the weakest team in the play offs has:
Won it 6 times
Runner up 2
Out first game 2 times

Fair point. In ‘89 when we were promoted, we had stormed up the league from (I recall?) about 5th off bottom in December.

In 1989 we were 6th at this time of the season - after 36 games. We then took 20 points from the last 10 games.

Yeah that was what leapt out at me - how many of the 7th place teams went on to get promoted. One thing is clear, if we can creep into the play-off places, our form will be terrific going into them.

weakest over 46 games, but often not over the 10 immediately before.

9 games to go. 6 wins and 1 draw would get us to 72pts, which would have been enough in 8 of the last 10 seasons.
