The Great Big Leyton Orientear Thread
Hi all,
Been tasked with passing on all the information about the Orientear so here we go:
If you missed our Wembley edition we can post it out to you for the low cost of £1.75. Failing that we'll be selling the magazine at our charity tournament The Chaos Cup, taking place at Douglas Eyre Sports Centre Walthamstow on June 8th(midday kick off, come on down for a fun day of football and a beer or two). We'll also have a seller at our preseason game against Norwich.
I’m pleased to announced that the magazine will be remaining at the low low cost of £1 per issue (when bought at the ground), unfortunately due to the ongoing increases in the cost of postage we have to put subscriptions up by a small amount.
Subscriptions are for at least six issues and will start from the next edition following payment, unless otherwise stated. You can pay by credit/debit
card and Paypal by sending an email topaypal@leytonorientear.com or by
posting a cheque to the below address for the following amount:
· United Kingdom - £12
· European Union - £18
· Rest of World - £27
All prices are inclusive of postage and packaging. Please include your name and address with every correspondence.
Orientear editorial address: 64 Middleton Avenue, Chingford, London, E4 8EG
End of Season poll:
1. Player of the season
2. Idiot of the season
3. Match of the season
4. Away trip of the season
5. Worst game of the season
6. Goal of the season
7. What are you looking forward to in League 2?
8. What are you going to miss about the National League?
9. If it were feasible, would you like to see VAR at Orient games?
10. What would you like to see more of in the Orientear?
Cheers!

Re: The Great Big Leyton Orientear Thread
End of Season poll:
1. Player of the season
Tough one this as promotion very much a team effort rather than one particular individual standing out. Dean Brill probably just edges it for me with vital saves at times that could've really changed the direction of the season.
2. Idiot of the season
Whoever thought 3 toilets would be enough to cope with our away support at Havant.
3. Match of the season
Braintree (H). Not for the football on display but for the sheer pleasure of sitting there for 20 minutes with a grin pasted on in the safe knowledge that we're about to leave non-league behind.
4. Away trip of the season
Bromley. No not really. None really stood out although Brackley was fairly pleasant in a scenic "I've been there" kind of way.
5. Worst game of the season
Sutton (H), Bromley (A). Oh and the final at Wembley - soulless 2/3rds empty Wembley, poo poo 1st half performance. We're doomed to never win there. Ever.
6. Goal of the season
Koroma - Bromley (H). Great run, finish and then letting George Porter know how good it felt. Perfect.
7. What are you looking forward to in League 2?
Not going to Bromley or Sutton.
8. What are you going to miss about the National League?
Not a lot although in the main, most NL fans we encountered were fairly decent and welcoming (excepting Telford which mainly seemed to consist of knob-heads and of course of part-time Millwall chums at Bromley).
9. If it were feasible, would you like to see VAR at Orient games?
f*** off. I like football how it is - why must we insist on continuing to sanitise it to the point of perfection. Goal line technology is enough. Ref's make mistakes - they're human. It's a game played by humans. Accept the fact that sometimes, errors will be made.
10. What would you like to see more of in the Orientear?
Gratuitous titillation and scandal.

Re: The Great Big Leyton Orientear Thread
End of Season poll:
1. Player of the season - Joe Widdowson - whilst it was hard to finally give it to Joe as Clay and Brill plus Coulson all had genuine shouts to be POTS, I picked Joe as he was consistent in playing virtually every game and being consistent in his performance across the whole season. I don’t think he had a bad game all season long.
2. Idiot of the season - George Porter for his behaviour as both the home and away games.
3. Match of the season - Bromley at home, for the occasion, for the atmosphere and for coming back on what was a significant day of respect to players who gave their lives for their country.
4. Away trip of the season - Braintree, I picked this as we don’t score 5 that often and we really ran riot that night. Plus the ground was virtually all Orient which is probably something I’ve not witnessed previously. Great night.
5. Worst game of the season - Maidenhead at home. Enough said really.
6. Goal of the season - Koroma home v Bromley, I think the defender is still turning this way and that and he still don’t know what way to go.
7. What are you looking forward to in League 2? League football once more and better refs!
8. What are you going to miss about the National League? True football fans
9. If it were feasible, would you like to see VAR at Orient games? No.
10. What would you like to see more of in the Orienteer? An historical look at a year in the life of a team. Say 60/61 team and maybe in each edition you look at a group of players and talk about them, possibly interview them, or look at group of matches and review them or look back at what the press reported back then. Something that looks into our history and brings it to the attention of newer fans or educates older one or refreshes people memories who were there.

End of Season poll:
1. Player of the season - Josh Coulson
2. Idiot of the season - O’s Big George Elokobi for his shocking display & subsequent toy throwing at Ebbsfleet. Non O’s - Little George Porter acting the tw*t.
3. Match of the season - Eastleigh at home.
4. Away trip of the season - managed to see some stinkers and miss many of the better ones, but the visit to Shots was good, with Brill pulling off a couple of blinding saves
5. Worst game of the season - Sutton at home. A poor loss to an ugly bunch of cloggers.
6. Goal of the season - Koroma. Bromley @ home.
7. What are you looking forward to in League 2? A (slightly) better standard of football from more teams & less home games with just a sprinkle of away fans present.
8. What are you going to miss about the National League? The BBC/Dulcet radio commentary for every game. The NLP coverage. Cheaper tickets.
9. If it were feasible, would you like to see VAR at Orient games? No way.
