As an Orient Supporter of 50 Years.....

- Was I sold a pup in the 70’s
- Am I ‘superior being’ that things it’s a great angle to balance it by supporting an underdog.
- or am I just a total waster.
Beginning to think I’ve been kidding myself - could well be the latter

Supporting the O's is good for life. Plenty of ups and downs. Anyone can support a PL time. Enjoy wins & don't get too down when we lose. I'v e had 47 years of it

I’ve been a supporter a lot longer than that (I blame my dad) and still the club is an enigma!
But hey ho I’ve been lucky enough to see us relegated from the first division!

Got a 4 month old that I feel like I have a chance to save a lifetime of misery.
His mum is a big arsenal fan who got forced to go to the Os as a kid.
A choice to make, but to save embarrassment in the playground I’ll probably pick Orient.

I lived in Manchester for a time & occasionally went to Salford before the 92 lot turned up.
Now I am back in London & supporting the Orient for about 10 years now , I am thinking of moving.back to Manchester & picking up there again & Salford are EFL trophy winners 2020
Should i stay or should i go ?

Unfortunately my 20 year old son is one now
You should have seen the amount of people come up to him when he wore his Orient shirt at University.

This Be The Verse
BY PHILIP LARKIN
They f*** you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.
But they were f*cked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.
Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

I've been a supporter and going to games for 50+ years. Season ticket holder since 92' and I've sponsored the kit of many players since 95.
I've seen a lot worse on the field than what has been on display in the last few weeks. But that doesn't make it any easier to take. But that's the Os for you.

Mrs NES and I are running you close. About 106 years between us. However, if you include her dad and uncles, that could be approaching 300.

I first went to the O’s with my Dad and Grandad in the 1957/58 season when we were in the old 2nd Division (Championship)
I went regularly with them and of course witnessed our promotion to the 1st Division (Premiership) and hardly missed a home game from then onwards until the end of Bechetti first season.Had a season ticket when Justin took over and we got promoted.
Since then been to a handful of matches but we were and still are such a pain to watch that I have stopped attending .
There can never be another team for me, so I just hope things get better sooner rather than later.

One of the first Orient game I see was leyton Orient v Liverpool 1962 . This was a Second division game towards the end of the season when both teams were fighting for the title. A s far as I came remember over 25000 were there. The score was 2-2 .The Os full back Eddie Lewis scored a screamer from about 30 yards to put the Os 2-1 up with minutes to go. Liverpool equalised in the last minute. One of the best League games I have seen.

Haven't yet made my 60th birthday, but brought up as an O's fan in Loughton, for my late dad was a lifelong fan having been born and lived in Glyn Road Clapton, literally just a goal kick from our Millfields Road Stadium. I do remember the old stadium from the 60s, greyhounds then of course, we used to often drive by it on way to my Aunt's in Hackney. Think my first game was in '67, recall the Division Three title win in 1970. Now in Norfolk but my allegiance will never waiver, albeit I give Posh a shout as my number two team given my son supports them.
Would much rather support the O's (or indeed Posh) than one of the megabucks Premier elite, I see our level as proper football!
