Nurse offered bible to Cancer patient.
Strange story indeed.
NHS nurse who offered a Bible to a cancer patient and encouraged him to sing The Lord is My Shepherd LOSES appeal after tribunal ruled she was 'rightly sacked for religious fervour'
Sarah Kuteh, 50, from Sierra Leone worked as an NHS nurse for 15 years
She was fired from Darent Valley Hospital in Kent for giving a patient a Bible following several other complaints
A court has ruled the termination of her employment was 'fair' after learning a patient likened her religious fervour to a 'Monty Python skit'

Re: Nurse offered bible to Cancer patient.
Sid - polite request as per the previous board - please keep thread titles as short as possible. Thanks.

Are you also going to give the same advice to the person with the new thread as below ?

No - because the title there doesn't in my opinion have superfluous words in it. Your title did which is why I took out the words "encouraged to sing the lord is my shepherd".Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 4:14 pmAre you also going to give the same advice to the person with the new thread as below ?

He's got you there Sidney. Personally I believe it wasn't clickbait you should have gone with Devout Christian sacked for her beliefs.
The defenders of Christianity would have been on it in a flash but would have been sad to find the woman was from Sierra Leone and would then have said nothing to defend her.

Well that description was considered to be relevant in relation to the original title published by the Daily Mail newspaper ?admin wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 4:38 pmNo - because the title there doesn't in my opinion have superfluous words in it. Whats your view on it Sid? No point just copy and pasting news articles if you're not going to add anything.

Re: Nurse offered bible to Cancer patient.
The issue seemed to be the title of the thread (which were my own words ) rather than copy and paste of this story and link to the full story.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 4:56 pm Whats your view on it Sid? Perhaps the answer might be to just keep the forum to purely football topics and also to not have copy and paste and links to the articles.
As to the story, well rather strange but I suppose due to the Nurses strong religious beliefs, guess she thought she was given the patient some kind of help.

So I get in trouble for having a row with Spen666, but apparently casual Islamophobia is allowed on this message board?
Very odd set of rules.

Re: Nurse offered bible to Cancer patient.
It’s blatantly a “one rule for them different rules for us” comment, which is Islamophobia.
Believe it or not you don’t have to be throwing around slurs to be a bigot.
At least the ones who throw slurs about are transparent in their intolerance. Arguably the ones who hide behind snide comments and semantics are worse as they are either in denial or actively trying to cover it up (in this case, poorly).
Re: Nurse offered bible to Cancer patient.
Political correctness etc these meant that the nurse should have followed procedures. In the first instance she should have asked the patient if he/she would like to see a chaplain. Secondly, she could ask the patient if he/she would like a Bible to read. In most hospitals there will be one in the bedside locker. If not, a phone call to the chaplaincy dept and a chaplain would bring a Bible to the bedside. I think Sid's article mentioned other times when this nurse probably needed cautions. A one off incident like the one mentioned would surely not merit dismissal.

Completely agree with everything you say in your comment.
Surely if any patient wishes to gain comfort from any particular religion they may believe in, then surely the best course of action would have been to refer the patients wishes to the relevant people in Hospitals who deal with such requests. This Nurse should have been trained to go through the correct procedures in these kind of sensitive matters.

It's not 'political correctness' though, is it? If I'm laid up in hospital I have the right to not have this thrust upon me by zealots.

Re: Nurse offered bible to Cancer patient.
Reading posts on a public forum, which a person voluntarily posted comments to be viewed publicly is "harassment" is it? Or is it having an opinion about other boarders and posting them, without being abusive, which is "harassment"?
Just curious to see where you're getting your bizarre definition from.

There's at least 5,000+ "pitch invaders" at Orient. I'm proud to be part of the club.

I'm just curious, the lack of action suggests that you're fine with it on this message board? Can you confirm?
