I'm surprised because without DJ feeding off scraps papering over the cracks, this system serves us so well...

His column is the one I look out for each week. Reasoned analysis which pulls no punches and comes from a background of playing the game, can't ask for more than that.

If you just discount all the goals we've scored, then it's plain to see we're doing terribly. Ross aht!Four four two wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 4:44 pm I'm surprised because without DJ feeding off scraps papering over the cracks, this system serves us so well...

Those who think our finest years were in the Seventies ?
Its when i fell for the club but we really only had 1 good season & a couple of F.A cup runs
The rest were pretty mediocre to be honest .

Really. Spend some time going through our 70s fixture lists. Fixtures we can only dream of today. I’d swap.

Some awful games
A few good ones like escaping relegation on the last day at home to Hull city
Or being at the cardiff game with me dad when kitch scored the winner to
Keep us up & send Blackpool down .
Most were pretty ordinary with a few good ones .
Still with a pitch like we had , it was hardly going to be the greatest .

Yes, Sending Blackpool down was ironic, seeing it was their 4-1 beating of the O's at Brisbane Road at the start of the season, which resulted in George Petchey being sacked, with Bob Hatton scoring one of the fastest hat-tricks recorded.

What affects most supporters is the week to week performances and results. Which is why there are plenty who are satisfied at the moment, because we're 10th. Last time Ling was in charge, we were doing less well than this, but at a higher level, and roles were reversed - I was in a minority who supported Ling at that time because we were around the right place in the league for a club of our resources at that time. Even though the week by week experience was probably less fruitful results-wise. But we did have the prospect of games against the likes of Leeds, Southampton, Forest, Leicester etc, and a generally higher level of football to watch.

I wasnt satisfied that we only had 1 season pushing for promotiin in the 70s
Most of the rest was mid table & lower .
Yes its higher than now of course.
But playing near the top end of the table & playing near the bottom end
Id always.l choose the higher place in the table

Kitch concerned over O’s slump

Peter Kitchen on Leyton Orient’s 2-1 Sky Bet League Two defeat at Cambridge United as well as his thoughts ahead of the derby with Southend United at the Breyer Group Stadium (Tuesday 7pm).
I think it’s fair to say, Peter Kitchen’s frustration has evolved into concern as Leyton Orient slipped to their fourth Sky Bet League Two defeat in five at Cambridge United.
With Head Coach, Ross Embleton self-isolating, Danny Senda took charge of the O’s. However, recent frailties were once again exposed as Danny Johnson’s sixteenth goal of the season was wiped out within two second-half minutes thanks to Wes Hoolahan and Paul Mullin.
“It was a case of more of the same from Orient,” Kitchen bemoaned.
“We took the lead but failed to build on the initiative. It might have been a game of two halves. But once we went behind, Orient couldn’t raise their game or muster an equaliser. It was very disappointing.
“The defeat highlights the frailty of our play-off aspirations. We don’t appear to be learning any lessons from previous performances and seem incapable of imposing ourselves and killing a game off when we are in the driving seat
“Their neat possession football might raise expectation but invariably we are naive, lack characters as well as the strength and aggression to dominate games.
And the former frontman’s concerns stretch towards Tuesday’s derby with Southend at the Breyer Group Stadium.
“I don’t think it matters who we are playing, it’s important we turn the corner as soon as possible – derby or otherwise. Fresh optimism is needed. If you look at Southend, they have recently found a system which is working and they have stuck to it.
“As a result, they are five unbeaten and will now fancy their chances of extending that run in E10. Indeed, currently, Southend are displaying the attributes of a side playing for their manager and might now be seen in some peoples eyes as the favourites going into the game?
“They are doing the dirty jobs, the basics. Getting in the faces of the opposition, closing down and putting their bodies on the line. As much as the O’s supporters might not want to hear it, the Southend resurgence has been highlighted by attributes currently missing amongst our own group.
“Desire must come from within. We have plenty of ability in the squad but must now match a team fighting for their lives with raw effort and honesty.”

IMO, rather unlikely that Ross would get a job as a manager/head coach for any other team in which Ling was not involved in some capacity or had some very good connections with.Anthem of Hope wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:11 am
What do you want for him to satisfy you ? He knows more on football than you or me and most other ones that express their views.
I assume, unconditional admiration for Ross. A guy that was not a pro footballer and has a very limited cv as a league manager but has been described by Ling as a “ brilliant “ coach with 22 + years of coaching but is around 38 years of age with the majority of those years coaching kids and junior teams within clubs of which ling I believe has been attached to at the same time.
I personally think he expressed his VIEW in a fair manner - it is his view but then as you demonstrate daily if it does not fit in with your position you criticise

The same could be said of most staff in cases where mid/lower level clubs promote from within.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 1:41 pmIMO, rather unlikely that Ross would get a job as a manager/head coach for any other team which Ling was not at in some capacity or had very good connections with.Anthem of Hope wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:11 am

Tuffers (Ross) (Ross's cousin) (drinking partner down the Chequers in Felstead) whoever you are, you spent all that time typing all that stuff Peter kitchen wrote just to prove he got his prediction of the Southend wrong but if you bothered to read his article every week you will read it is an accurate assessment of basically how sh*t we are under Ross and we should be doing better. I respect your sticking up for Ross but your getting desperate now and haven't you noticed most of the time your in the minority and this also applies from the Supporters Facebook page as ALL apart form only one are all pissed of with the Boring, uninspiring football Dross is dishing out each game.
Luckily for Ross fans aren't allowed in otherwise there would be weekly renditions of "we're F..king Bored " all with our phone torches on as was the case with Ian Hendon. Bloody shame tbh as at least T & T would witness this and would act on it.
Anyone with any knowledge can see his tactics and system doesn't work and we are easy to play again.
How can you stick up for a man (not saying manager because he isn't) that puts out a team that has only 2 shots in 90 odd minutes every game.
A man who continues to the DOF son at RB after conveniently loaning out Judd and then not playing Thomas who has a decent game against Colchester...coincidence or as Dross would say a conspiracy.
The only conspiracy is how he got the job in the first place.
Peter Kitchen is well respected and talks alot more sense than you and me but you picked out a column that backed your point.
How convenient but it doesn't cover over what a majority of fans already SEE each week and know.

Would be/will be.....interesting to see what the next move will be for Ross if and when there is a future parting of the ways with Leyton Orient fc.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 1:41 pmIMO, rather unlikely that Ross would get a job as a manager/head coach for any other team which Ling was not at in some capacity or had very good connections with.Anthem of Hope wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:11 am

Also why bring Ross into this argument ?
He was at home isolating , Danny Senda was the person being mentioned
In the article & kitch wrote about that game & Southends incredible form !
