Ratings vs Crawley

Post by tuffers#1 »

My thoughts on tonight
Vigouroux 7 ( not much else to say, great keeper )
Ling 7 ( Best game all season , )
Akinola 7.5 ( very solid )
Thompson 7.5 MOM ( Just nicks MOM for me 1st game in & played well)
Brophy 7 ( another solid defensive display )
Freeman 7 ( Potential for much much more )
Kyprianou 5 ( 2 points off for the sending off , harsh as it maybe )
Clay 7.5 ( would have been MOM if not for Thomoson being so solid on debut)
Wilkinson 7 ( got amongst it & certainly got stuck into number 44 )
Sotiriou 6.5 ( half point off , hope the injury isnt serious )
Kemp 6.5 ( Played well enough , just looks so small)

Subs

Abrahams 6.5 ( did well enough considering we were down to 10 men )

Jobi not on long enough
Joe W not on long enough

Freeman caught me eye when he contributed towards a very good goal scoring chance on Saturday when he came on as a sub, which ended up with a terrible way over the bar miss from Wilko.

Gritty performance with a lot of positives and, unfortunately some negatives.

Positives:
Freeman looks as though he's going to have a big influence
Thompson looks solid
Kemp could contribute when he finally gets to play 90 minutes in his correct position
Given the way we set up in the 2nd half we came away with a well earned point

Negatives:
Losing Kyprianou for a couple of games, he was playing really well before the (deserved) red card
Embleton deciding to play 4-5-0 for the whole second half even though we had two attackers on the pitch. If all you do is welly it up the pitch with that formation it comes straight back at you. We got lucky with so many crosses coming in

Strange that you mentioned all the newbies other than Abrahams. I thought he was very disciplined and put in a real decent shift down that left hand side. He’s much better suited to that wide man role than Ruel.

Whilst I disagree, I can understand the rationale of deducting points for being red carded.

But deducting points for getting clobbered is proper

I deducted a half point for Ruel & Tristan because they didnt play a full 90 minutes .
If either had been on for a full 90 they would have got a 7 minimum .

Its how a points scoring system works fairly , why would Tris or Ruel deserve
more than someone who played the whole game ?

I really struggle to see the understanding of Football that you claim to have .

Didn’t realise your scores were time apportioned, that makes sense to adjust them for length of time on the pitch.

You should also consider adjusting them for the amount of involvement a player has in the game.

Thanks Tuffers. All fair I reckon.
Sotiriou was causing them problems before he went off. Looks much better in his natural position.

Was very impressed with Thompson and Freeman: fair play to the board for bringing new players in, when, they 'could' have just sat on the squad, since we appear not in immediate danger of relegation.

It was a definite upturn on the sh*t-show at Bolton, anyway..

Vigs 7
Ling 7
Brophy 7.5
Akinola 8 (hope we get him on a perm)

Hector 6 (was playing so well until red card)
Clay 7.5
Freeman 8 (great debut, a real attacking force)
Kemp 7
Wilko 7
Sotiriou 6

Abrahams 7

Wright had a lot of room after the sending off, and it was apparent what a show-boating fanny merchant he really is. An absolute nothing player: very pleased he's now gone.

Still buzzing from last night - so impressed with the new signings and the positive impact that they’ve had on the whole team. Expecting a very strong finish to the season.

I really hope so. The club has said more than once to expect a strong second half of the season. Let’s hope this is the start.

80% positive last night. We should have been attacking more like we had to at Barrow when we were 1-0 down with 10 men (does anyone remember being 2-0 up against 10 men Shrewsbury and losing 3-2, we were chasing playoffs at the time, 20 years ago perhaps).

The new guys all did well so plenty of competition now. The ref seemed biased-Crawley had 18 fouls, one yellow card, us 14, 4 yellows, 1 red

I am watching clay like a hawk Saturday because every week I miss what everyone else sees. Last night he gave away the penalty, ran around like a headless chicken and you want to give him MOM. There were at least 5 players better than him including Ling who I thought had a good game. The new signings look great. Building a very good team.

He had that much room he even passed forward once.
During the broadcast I'm sure heard that with Wright going Freeman was a like for like replacement. You couldn't be any further from the truth. Freeman is a huge improvement.

Thank God he did give away the penalty. After Ling misjudged the flight of the ball and missed the header, it would have been a definite goal.
