Sweet Caroline

I wondered why this song was so popular with sports fans in UK. It is a very old song (1969 ), yet young blokes seem to know the words. I realise that Neil Diamond is like Royalty in the USA. I seen him a few times as my Ex was a rabid fan. Just that on youtube it features male fans in UK going almost as potty as my ex. Does any club have it as one of their " songs "?

It is an easy listening, ‘catchy’ tune, simple rhythm, with memorable lyrics. I took my daughter with me to go see him at the O2 few years back, was offered great seats gratis. She was 15 then and really enjoyed the evening . Had never heard of him until then but was astounded as to how famous he was subsequently.

It’s a catchy singalong, alright, and Diamond was pretty prolific in churning out catchy pop tunes.

Mind you, Quo also had a cracking sweet Caroline song too. I wonder if their title was shortened for copyright reasons?

Some say that about 300 year old Classical Music, which has a following all around the World. Lasts the test of time.
