Can the oldies use this to natter amongst themselves about all the things that were so much better in the good old days? When men were real men , women and black people did what they were told, and gays didn’t exist?
Just so it’s contained in one place so we don’t have to read it in every other thread. Cheers.

Never take old age for granted. You may not make it.

Well you obviously do not.
Someone foolish like you can learn from wise old men.
Wise old men , will not learn much from you.
I pity your Grandfather if you ever met him. Then again you probably did and had no time for him either? Sad way to lead your life.

Grandfathers were better back in the day. Grander than the ones these days

How would you know, claiming to be younger? Talk is cheap Wumble. You are master of it. Go to bed, don’t forget to brush your teeth and wash behind your ears, say your prayers and lights out.

When I was a youngster: The UK was almost bankrupt as it had been through a World War. Sweets & meat was rationed- 12 oz sweets/ month, £2.50 ( today's value ) meat )/ week. Net curtains used to freeze to the curtains overnight in your bedroom. You took a hot water bottle ( if you had one ) to bed. No central heating for most people. No cars for most people. No TV's for most people. They hung some people ( including women ). They birched unruly youths. Put gay people in prison. Censored: books, plays, films etc quite heavily. People died or were paralysed by polio. Cancer was a certain death sentence. Divorce was only available to the rich.
Apple Wumble, I think you should be grateful to have been born 2005 ( I guess that must be your age ) and not 1948 like me. Things were definitely not better in 1948. Some people who have poor health etc, look back to a " golden time " when they were young. I don't I have a bloody good memory.

I've got some fond memories of the old days. They include:
Queuing up with the other free school meal kids
My dad getting the NoW every Sunday which included loads of reporting of rape cases in graphic detail
Taking the 11 plus while my sister and brothers went to the school across the road that only gave out CSE's
My Mum working two jobs until she had a stroke in her late 20's and was laid off. When she recovered she went back to work two different jobs
Fond memories! I've probably got a lot more but the old nogin isn't as good as it used to be

Several Boarders on here need to seriously consider retiring or using their spare time attending Boardin Lessons.
I don't want to be nasty but Sid, Oiram, Thor, Dohnut and Perpetually Wrong need to reduce their word count drastically. It is boring as f***. A bit of my soul dies every time I see their posts.
