What a great win! One game closer. Have no clue what the keeper thought he was doing at the end - but we’ll 100% take it. They weren’t a good side at all, barely strung 3 passes together all game and were just hoofing the ball and cheating. Very lethargic start from the Os, couldn’t get settled, and the ref wasn’t doing us any favours blowing up every 5 seconds. Funnily, their goal was what seemed to kick us into action, after they scored we started playing better football and played to our strengths rather than keep smashing it down the centre halves throats. Brilliant finish to the game and we move one step closer!

Brill 6 - Didn’t do anything wrong.
Widdowson 3 - All over the place, constantly making poor decisions both defending and attacking. Bottled a fair few challenges as well.
Coulson 7 - Very steady, commanded the defence, came in handy with some very important headers.
Happe 7 - Bit slow moving the ball at times, but couldn’t say he did that much wrong. Extra mark for a great header.
Ekpiteta 7 - Same as Coulson - some great tackles.
Ling N.A
Clay 8 - Bossed the midfield great vision to pick out passes and won loads of ball.
Gorman 5 - Pretty ineffectual, gave the ball away a lot.
Brophy 6 - Better in the first half when he was skinning their full backs on every occasion. Would have to say he was at fault for the goal however, gave the man acres of space to get the shot away.
Bonne 7 - Ran his nuts off all game - great press to win the pen and then to convert it.
Koroma 7 - Great delivery for the goal and posed a threat with his jinking runs.

Subs:
Dayton 3 - Pretty useless, what a plank to throw something at the ref and leave us with ten men.
Harrold 8 - Made the difference, won loads of headers and pressed their defence no end.
Lee 5 - Barely touched it, bizarre for him to come on for Koroma.

Sutton keeper MOTM - Some great play to do keepy upies give it straight to Bonne!

Hey Jude I like the way you take a bad game and make it better.

Another truly appalling ref too. Didnt help by booking Gorman after a big overreaction from the Sutton player and then letting worse go until the later stages.

Good ratings.

First half was brutally sh*t to watch. Neither team created anything and we played into their hands with all the long balls and no one to win a header. Harrold should have started or come on early and when he did he changed the game.

Their goal was infuriating. Widdowson has a great chance but is so sh*t scared of shooting he lost it and a minute later we were 1-0 down. Great run but not an orient player in sight and brill got beaten from distance again.

Amazing end to the game. Decent header from Happe after their keeper clapped and to be fair we looked better with ten men. Was a weird feeling in the last ten and I was convinced we’d blown it. Bizarre pen, never seen anything like it. Was annoyed the ref blew up so quick as well as I thought we would have scored any way and put so much pressure on Bonne but credit to him he smashed it home and I went mental.

Getting a win out of that game is what champions are made of. 3 games to go.

Brill - 6 - barely a thing to do. Have to see it again but was no where near their goal.

Widdowson - 3 - mr consistency...until about 3 weeks ago. He has looked utterly useless recently and today was no different.
Coulson - 7 - commanding at the back
Happe - 7 - good goal and made a couple of decent passes
Ekpiteta- 6 - bit of a shaky start but improved a lot second half on the ball
Ling - na

Clay - 8 - motm- dragged us through that. Didn’t stop running and won loads of tackles. Fittest player in the league probably and without him we’d be about 7th.
Gorman - 3 - started brightly and I thought, here we go, finally seeing why he came here. Then faded and faded. Game passed him by after the first 15 mins.
Brophy - 6 - feel for him really. Hasn’t been able to do 90 mins in his actual position for about 6 weeks. Did ok at rb but if he had a right foot he’d be dangerous.

Bonne - 6 - gotta be honest, found this hard. 10 for keeping his cool and scoring the winner as well as winning the pen but apart from that I thought he had a bit of a shocker. Didn’t win a header, his touch was gone and had a couple of wild shots when there were better options. Also made a kid cry with his celebration ;)
Koroma - 6 - not at his best. Don’t think he enjoyed the pitch.

Subs:
Dayton - 3 - regardless of the red card he was pretty anonymous
Harrold - 8 - won everything and caused their defenders problems. Clearly got the defenders to think a bit and they were all over the place after that.
Lee - 7 - did what we needed and cleared up a fair bit

Agree about Widdowson not shooting in that good position just before their goal. He can't cross effectively anyway, which makes it an even worse decision

Difficult game like the previous few have been. Dug really deep after going down to ten men, superb win and great scenes!

Dayton won't be missed, he's terrible in the middle. Credit to Brophy, did well in an unnatural position up against their best player. And thank god their second choice keeper came on for the second half!

The reaction after the penalty went in was bloody marvellous.
Not felt like that since the second leg v Peterborough.

Can anyone confirm what their keeper was playing at? Never seen anything like that. A nothing back pass and he decides to attempt some kick ups? Totally bizarre. The rugby tackle after was comedy gold, although as somebody else said I reckon the ball would have ended up in the net anyway.

Combine this incident with the lino going down like a sack of spuds and the red card (which I didn’t even realise had happened until the missus pointed out that we only have 10 players on the pitch), all played on a pitch which looks like the artificial turf in my nans back garden, then I’d say that it was one of the oddest matches I’ve ever seen.

Agree. A really weird game, especially after the first half was one to forget.

The back pass wasn't the greatest to begin with but no idea what he was thinking. Good work from Bonne and Harold. I was half expecting the ref to give it the other way based on his previous decisions!

For the first goal he was absolutely nowhere near the ball. Didn't realise he came on as a sub at the start of the second half.

Also thought OFF was a solid 7 today. Some genuinely funny bants to go with the usual rants.

Good ratings. Bit harsh on a couple of the less than stellar performers, everyone put in a shift today.

Clay was simply sensational today. Bonnes work rate was immense too.

Happe also had a great game, won everything in the air and made some terrific cross field passes.

Second half was about as strange a 45 minutes as I have ever seen, and then when you think you have seen it all their substitute goalkeeper completely mucks up and ensures we get the three points. (ta very much)

I want to see that tackle on Dayton again, from where we were it look like studs off the ground and excessive force. Don't condone what Dayton did after it was silly, but the officials set a new low for total incompetence today.

Thought we battled back well without playing great but the points were more important than the way we played today.

I thought it was studs up, two footed and a blatant red in a normal f*cking league.

Good observation. So many games this season yet the squad, especially those that play most games and are the backbone of the side, put in a shift, deserve credit. All about results and we got a massive one.

He was never going to score from out there. The decision to try and find Koroma was the right one, just poorly executed.

Special mention to Brophy for his part in the pen - as Macca was holding the ball on the spot waiting for the ref, one of their players was trying to get in his face. Brophy wasn’t having any of it.

Given how dodgy the keeper turned out to be we don't know that he wouldn't have scored. If he'd hit the shot on target like he hit the cross then he may also have drawn a save from the keeper with a resultant loose ball in the 6 yard box and the keeper down. A lot of his crosses are poorly executed, which is a fair enough for a fullback at this level, so that should also be a consideration.
