Re: Charlie Grainger
Seen the post you're on about, I wonder if they've all been told whether they're getting a new contract or not - wouldn't have thought so but seems a bit weird if it's just Charlie who knows

Re: Charlie Grainger
The most obvious decision, seem to remember Edinburgh mentioning that he had the chance to go on loan this year but turned it down.
Be interesting to see where he ends up, not entirely convinced it'll be National League. Probably follow Sammy Moore.
Didn't realise he was 23 in July, so not really a kid either.

Re: Charlie Grainger
No conspiracy theory required. We have three goalkeepers and Grainge is the one out of contract.

Re: Charlie Grainger
Spoke to charlie at the villa friendly and he told me then(so he's known for a few weeks). Also JE said in an interview with dave victor that everyone in the squad has been made aware if they have a future here but the club are not making it public yet

Re: Charlie Grainger
Charlie played for England at 16, yet he hasn't progressed.
The time he got a run of first team games under Steve Davis, showed me he wasn't the answer in goal.
Good luck to the lad in the future

Re: Charlie Grainger
Ridiculous, he's 1.87. Morrimdog had a pretty successful lower league career at 4cm shorter. Matty Ryan in the prem is 1.84.Kitch’s Magic Toes wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 12:22 am Too small. Sure he’ll get a Ryman Premier side. No loss.

Re: Charlie Grainger
Not just his height. He’s extremely slight for a keeper as well. He will never be able to control his area properly at league level because he has zero presence. He might make it back to the league eventually, but we can’t afford to be the ones to suffer his unreadiness for years like we did with Morris.Adz wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 2:26 amRidiculous, he's 1.87. Re: Charlie Grainger
Again, disagreed. The very best goalkeepers are all 'slight' these days. It's about agility and mobility.
The days of your chunky Southalls, Shiltons, Burridges, Fatty Foulkes etc are long gone.

Re: Charlie Grainger
That applies much more to the Premiership/Championship where keepers will get more protection from refs. In the rough and tumble of lower league and with the crap refereeing we have come to expect, a bit of brawn on a keeper is still an asset.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 11:45 am Again, disagreed.
