Same old Orient, soft underbelly exposed again
Vigoroux - 6 - will be annoyed seeing 3 goals pass him, lucky to get away with dawdling on the ball from incessant backpasses
Brophy - 5 - get him away from LB, did nothing most of the game and was weak on the ball, easily brushed off
Turley - 5 - not his best performance, lost his man from the corner and subbed second half
Happe - 5 - too many backpasses and soft in the head at the end, take the damn foul
Akinola - 5 - gets a 4 at RB, no good there but 6 at CB which is... his position
Wright - 5 - didn't bring much to the table
Cissé - 5 - good header early on seemed to be imposing himself but then got slower and more ponderous. Shadow of last season at the moment
Clay - 4 - was on for a solid 5/6 but docking two points for not taking the foul early at the end then pulling the man down for a needless pen that lost us the game
Sotiriou - 5 - good assist but then poor touch cost the first goal. Pretty anonymous after that
Wilkinson - 5 - lovely finish but did little else
Johnson - 5 - didn't have a sniff really
McAnuff - 8 - the only one who has a clue outfield
JMD - 7 - looked lively great goal

Vigouroux. Solid as always. 7
Brophy. Nothing spectacular. 5.5
Happe. Played well. Will leave soon. 7
Akinola. Played much better in the second half when in his correct position. Funny that. 6
Turley. Not a great game. Didn’t look that fit. 5
Wright. Offers nothing. 5
Clay. No idea what he was doing for the penalty. Could have taken him out outside the area but decides to do it inside. Poor game generally. 5
Cisse. Plods about. 5.5
Sotiriou. Needs to play down the middle. Good play for our first. 6
Wilkinson. Good goal. Did nothing aside from that. 5.5
Johnson. Completely annonoymous. 5
Subs.
Jmd. Good goal. 7
Macanuff. Single-handedly changed the game. Well almost. 7.5 mom
Should have had a penalty in last minute. Still no idea what orients style of play is supposed to be. Grimsby are no Cheltenham and will be mid table.

Thought Wilkinson was the most industrious forward, took the wrong one off ross.

Our thoughts are similar! I thought Happe did well as he was putting out fires all over the place and his passing was excellent. Perhaps 7 a bit generous though.

Vigouroux -6.5 Let down by those in front of him again
Brophy - 5 Needs to believe in himself
Turley - 5 Needs to be fitter
Happe - 6 Ok ish. Our best defender
Akinola - 5 He's a centre back,play him there
Wright - 4 v poor ,is he trying?
Cissé - 5 I'm a fan , usually tidy ,but not really even that today, too negative passing wise until late on.
Clay - 5 Always lots of effort, little end product, silly tackle for pen, should have let the man go . Vigs would have saved it
Sotiriou - 5.5 very little service. Great feet , give him the ball ffs
Wilkinson - 6 Our most likely goal threat tonight, should have stayed on instead of Johnson
Johnson - 5 Hardly touched the ball , not entirely his fault
McAnuff - 7 Almost salvaged us something. Wish we had another 9 like him
JMD - 6.5 Did well , nice goal, gave them problems when he came on.

Outplayed for the second game running. I know we have decent players but everything is so slow, especially when you compare us to sides we come up against. When it comes down to it Embleton isn't up to the job and doesn't know how to set a side up properly.
We have three players up front who are capable of contributing 40 goals a season between them but insist on playing two of them as wingers (they ignored the script in the 4th minute, resulting in an excellent goal). Johnson's conversion rate is probably the best in the division at the moment but we feed him scraps. It didn't help that two of our central mids were off their game today (they were at fault for a goal each), and the other was Wright who, even when he's on his game, wouldn't know a decisive pass if it was staring at him. Brophy is a winger and these days only gets forward when we are chasing the game late on. We've brought in Akinola and played him out of position and when we did move him to his correct position put a midfielder in at right back even though Ling was on the bench.
What madness is this! It's time to bring somebody in who knows what he's doing and can get the best out of a squad more than capable of being upper top half rather than being a few points off National League where we will end up under Embleton.

We do seem to be so slow in the build up, got caught out a couple of times in front of goal and were lucky not to concede more. Cisse, who I like and has been a positive addition to the team this year, is oft too ponderous on the ball, and it all slows up.
I felt the forwards did ok today, Johnson does plenty of work without much service, Sotiriou and Wilkinson each had some nice touches, combined well for the goal, but overall they needed more support. JMD took his goal well too.
Just feel we need a couple of decent full backs who are proper full backs - we ended the game with Clay at RB today – and if they don’t offer so much going forward then so be it, good teams are built from the back, and we can’t expect the forwards to always outscore the opposition when we are leaking too many goals.

How can you have watched that today and concluded our fullbacks were the issue?

We rarely play any first time passes which slows down the build up and tempo of play.
As for full backs, I’d have Thomas and Widdowson, pushing Brophy on where he can hurt the opposition.
Our defence was poor today and we might have got a point if Happe had brought the guy down for the penalty.
JMD needs to start on Tuesday, along with Jobi, if possible.

Embleford to blame for his total lack of tactical or managerial nous. The rest of the coaching team are also clearly in way over their heads.
Awful awful football with no sign of any respite.

All correct, although I will add that he never should have got the job after the Fletcher fiasco.
Too much of Ling trying to cover his tracks and keep everything in-house.

Correct me if I'm wrong but since he took over after Fletcher was let go his record is W6 D9 L10. That equates to 50 points per season, it won't get us relegated but it won't get us out of the bottom six either.

It’s just as well spectators aren’t allowed in to games, as I can’t believe anyone would pay to watch the crap we’re coming up with. It’s been the same since Edinburgh died.

I've watched all season and the full backs are a continuing issue - thought Akinola looks promising to be fair - but I agree it's not the only issue. My point is I'd feel the team would have a better chance if players were played in the best positions.

Glad I didn't watch yesterdays game. The natives are restless; even my pals on our whatsapp group - who are usually "supportive" of RE's aims - were baffled by the line up and subsequent tinkering.

The noticeable thing fo me was how they broke through our midfield ranks with pace and good passing. Much more mobile than us. I texted my son during the first half and said that we are going to concede a cricket score that's how dangerous I thought Grimsby were at that time and the winner was set up by drive and pace. Midfield will get us relegated

The midfield is terrible and the formation and tactics are not helping. Rethink is needed.

Spot on, unless the negative, boring style of play changes people will not pay to watch .I have paid to watch a couple of games but won’t be doing it anymore, nobody in their right mind would pay to watch such negative, boring football.
