Harriet Harman, the longest continuously serving female MP, has called on the media regulator, Ofcom, to publish data on the gender of older broadcasters to highlight the “double discrimination” facing senior female presenters on TV and radio.

Quite right too. I for one am proud we have such a woken MP prepared to stick up for the interests of others. In fact, does her suggestion go far enough? What about older women of colour and older women of colour who in fact identify as male?

Food for thought.

Personally I’m disappoint that she hasn’t recognised there are no over 50s playing professional football these days despite many having spectacular CVs.

Dissy - She IS looking after those other groups you've mentioned. Older and female can also be BAME. Good for her.

Dohy - I'm not sure your false equivalency works. Professional athletes tend to stop because their bodies no longer allow them to compete at the level required. What is stopping senior female presenters but less so males?
Oh, and I can think of at least one 53 year old professional still playing!
