With the furlough scheme being phased out and no sign of punters being allowed in soon, it will be amazing if all EFL clubs are still going at the end of 20/21. My guess is that those clubs with big expenses like Ipswich and Sunderland in L1, plus a number of Championship clubs have most to fear. The likes of us could always go part-time or semi pro if needed.

Entirely depends on if we get a vaccine that works every year as the virus will never go away( unlikely) or if it works enough( like the flu jab) that governments eventually accept herd immunity + jab (very probable) all within the next year. If governments keep trying to protect everyone (admirable at first less so now) then we could be at this for years and clubs will close for sure.

Rotherham’s owners said several clubs could go out of business by the end of this month. Ian Holloway today has said Grimsby will run out of money unless a bailout is forthcoming.

This is serious now. Someone high up in the EFL said just the other days clubs are in dire straits and without a bailout several won’t make it to Xmas.

I read today that he government won’t bail out football whilst the premier league spend over 200 million on agents fees with the rationale being of they can afford that, then they can afford to supports other clubs in the pyramid. Almost get your own house in order before begging the government for money.

Something has to give as clubs cannot obsorb all the costs they are incurring without some kind of aid as match revenue is now non existent.

Tough days ahead for sure. I’m just pleased and happy that we have two owners who care about the club, the fans and the community. Otherwise we would possibly be one of the clubs looking over our shoulders.

That's a ridiculous stance. It's like saying I'm not gonna support Jimmy's electronics down the high street as dixons makes millions.

That's a ridiculous stance. It's like saying I'm not gonna support Jimmy's electronics down the high street as dixons makes millions.

The premier League clubs have spent over 1billion pounds in this transfer window and yet L1and 2 clubs are struggling to pay their players.The PFA have a yearly turnover of 34million. It is outrageous that the lower league clubs suffer from support from their own inner circle. No wonder the government are saying sort it out amongst yourselves.

Yeah but what has Chelsea's spending got to do with orient. They're different companies just in the same industry
