The left winger had a lot of time and space for the goal, didn’t he.....?

Yes, because Ling has to come in to cover their tall striker who is otherwise totally unmarked in the box.

As proved when the new lad came on, it's the lack of any cover on that side that's the problem.

As you say Ronnie he did have a " lot ot time and space for the goal" but if you watch the goal again you will notice that none of our players in defensive positions either closed down or put any pressure on their attackers. No one person to blame but just poor collective defending.
DJ goal a lovely strike of a player playing with confidence.

I’m not sure Coulson is good for Ling.

Coulson is often in no mans land, not marking anyone and Ling then gets pulled inside to mark his man, leaving the winger free. It’s Lings man that scores though.

Tbh the defence is all over the place. If you pause it when it’s on their right wing, there’s about a 20 yards gap between widdowson and Coulson which any player has free reign to run into. The defence just isn’t playing like a unit atm.

So what the bloody hell are our defence coaches doing about it? Looks like Jack sh*t at the moment.

No he didn’t have to.

Dennis just needed to be told to drop back 2 yards and stay with his man.

Ling vacated his position unnecessarily. We got punished for it. Another one to add to his growing collection.

I wonder what the Barrow board is saying about our goal :?: I wonder who their team scapegoat is :?: :P

Their keeper didn’t exactly cover himself in glory, but it has to go down to the bloke who lost the ball needlessly on the halfway line.

Proof of why you can't have two slow CBs partnering each other. You need a quicker player in the pair to be able to cover those balls over the top. When he returns it has to be Turley & Happe imo.

More goals from that RB area again, nothing more to add there tbh it's all been said.

Lovely finish from Johnson and perfect assist from Clay.

Very very lucky not to concede with that header at the end, easier to score than miss!

That save from Vigaro form the free kick directly after Happes red card hasn’t got anywhere near the praise it deserves. That is properly top class. Division 4 keepers shouldn’t be pulling out saves like that.

If you genuinely believe Ling is to blame for the goal you’re either a massive fanny with an agenda or just don’t know football

You’re right, the fact it was Lings man in acres of space is no way attributable to Ling. I’ve just got an agenda.

Both his saves were really good. Probably the best player in this squad.

I’m both.

Doesn’t mean he didn’t have a hand in the blame though

Almost expect it of him now, saves us multiple times most games

Forget that the team got dragged all over the park in the build up, midfield weren’t getting tight enough to their men and not going with runners, players not showing their man into traffic, it’s Sam Ling’s fault because their left winger scored 🙄🤡

Dont think there’s any probably about it.

Struggling to think of any mistakes he’s made since being with us, not many players and especially keepers you can say that about after this many games.

Yes, all of that happened, totally. That’s to be expected being a man down.

But what you don’t do is leave your man unattended like that when there’s no need to. If you do, you concede goals.

It’s debatable whether that goal was anything to do with Ling but my biggest issue with him (as well as zero positional sense) is his total lack of movement, urgency. He is never on his toes. If you watch professional football players they are always in motion. Ling does everything at his own pace and it seems like he is playing at a different speed than everyone else. It’s why when we are attacking he is behind the play and when we are defending he is ahead of the play. He occupies some sort of twilight zone and it’s all very weird. It’s only one player but it makes me doubt everything about Embletons ability as a manager that he can’t see it. I have no axe to grind against the bloke and start watching every week with an open mind hoping he will improve and have a good game. Doesn’t happen. When the West Ham guy came on yesterday he was under a lot of pressure as well. Perhaps the way we are set up puts lots of pressure on our right side but that doesn’t excuse Lings general couldntgiveacrapedness as well as zero idea how to play the position he is picked in.

Kind of like, you know, what a keeper should do.

Brill wouldn’t have saved that free kick, I tell you that much.

He is far superior to the level he is playing at. I hope that he locks himself down to achieving something in the game and does it with us at a higher level. Am I surprised at the save? No I’m not, he just needs a bit more help from the players in front of him.
