Listening to RE post match interview he is very hopeful that new a defender is to sign early this week. Hopefully not an untried youngster, who makes little impact in the starting line up.

Hopefully it will be a player who can go straight into the team instead of keeping the bench warm

What’s happened to turley? Is he injured or out of favour?

Will piss myself laughing if we bring in a quality right back and then stick him on the bench.
Or play him, but drop Cisse and stick Samling in midfield.

Won’t be a RB or LB.
Likely to be a loan CB who will be used as cover for Coulson, Turley, Happe and Widdowson. Unless the Widdowson not a CB penny drops. Or maybe a lower league CB with potential, the club looking to the future when Widdowson and Coulson move on in June.
Brophy will remain first choice LB with Widdowson picking up the slack and cover
Ling will remain first choice RB with Thomas picking up the slack and cover

Would love to see us sign a quality CB to come in alongside Happe. Free up Turley to play RB with Thomas as backup / alternative

I'd be perfectly happy with turley at centre half. He is a no nonsense defender, he can give it out and take it! He is quick as you like and offers a big threat at set pieces. I also like his personality from what I saw of him doing videos during lockdown which says he is a positive member of the dressing room and a character. Hopefully he can stay fit, get in the team and deserve to hold the shirt on a match to match basis.

Agreed with all of this.
I'd probably have him as skipper behind Jobi, too.

Sam Ling's contract will also run out in June, wonder if he will be kept on for another one or two seasons ?

My guess. He will be one of those offered new contracts under the heading of maintaining a stable core squad whilst improving in other key areas. Widdowson and Coulson unlikely.
Wages too will play a part if we have high earners at the end of their contracts.

I think Sam would be far better off to leave the club, he played far better for Dagenham and was not that bad when he first re-joined us.
Too much pressure for him in the situation he has been placed in, confidence is everything in football.

I think ability should be a major consideration too!
