Why ..

Are we being asked to go straight in and play a league game
if we haven’t trained for 2 weeks and are still missing senior
first team regulars ..
Down to bare bones for Centre Halves and no training for 2
weeks due to isolating strange how Grimsby’s game is off I’m
guessing due to still isolating..

Please can it be confirmed that we were ordered/made to play the
game in the post match interview useless we can read into it that
us as a club we were happy to go into this defeat with one centre
half and no training for two weeks..

I’ve said what matt porter said in his post match discussion on the orient tv show and it’s exactly what we were told. The club didn’t want to risk a fine or a points deduction.

That’s fine... be interesting to know if the club fought there
case with the EFL re: not having the relevant manpower to
fulfil the fixture..
If so the honourable thing maybe should have been to forfeit
the fixture points to Cheltenham (which they’ve got anyway),
and take a points deduction in a stand against the EFL who we
know don’t care about lower league clubs ..

But we had enough fit players.

Jobi showed quite clearly that player fitness should not be an issue
The players have been together long enough to know each other’s game
The players should be well up to Ross game ideas
The players didn’t look unfit
We are constantly told we have a strong squad, whoever we choose to put out
We have been told Widdowson is fine at CB so don’t need anyone else
Everybody else was playing in their routine position, as far as we can tell.
Some of our better moments were later in the game
Don’t think Cheltenham had a League game for two weeks

We need to stop with the excuses. Our defending was poor and our creativity non existent for the most part. We were beaten by the better team who, in the second half, took it easy and were still better than us.

Fortunately Cheltenham are one of the better L2 teams.

Totally unreasonable to expect the EFL to delay the game if we can put a team out just because we haven’t trained

Obviously the fact we haven’t trained for a couple of weeks has had an impact though

Think Ross only got with the players this lunchtime to disscuss tactics, team selection and actually do a piece of pre match training/warm up.
Remind me again are we in the EFL or the WALTHAM FOREST LEAGUE!!
That is pathetic from a proffessional football league body who should have the interest and safety of their members as a matter of priority.

How would you finish the season if you postpone each game to let a team train after a Covid outbreak?

Play the games midweek like we are at Walsall on Tuesday
week and with fully fit players who’ve trained sufficiently for
the game unlike the unprofessional debacle we witnessed today ..

There has to be consideration as to when to play the game. Ross said he only saw the players on the morning of the game. That’s no training, no warm up, no stretching as a group In the preceding week. Maybe consideration should have been given to move it back say 72 hours and then go. It’s a fact players get injuries after not playing or training for a period of time, where was the players welfare considered?

You do know we already have a game scheduled for Tuesday? Can't see how playing twice on the same day would be that helpful.

It’s obviously far from ideal but let’s be honest. The problems yesterday were the same we’ve seen all season.

Players don’t lose fitness after 10 days off. And I’m sure they were able to do some form of exercise to maintain things anyway. There was also something published of the players stretching and conditioning together on Zoom. Fitness wasn’t our problem yesterday.

We got beat yesterday because were unable to get the ball down and outplay teams when we’ve effectively got 10 players on the pitch. And we’re unable to defend when teams target our weak spot.

No i didn't know that. I didn't even know we are at home yesterday till about midday when I was phoned and asked to help someone get the stream!

My point remains that the welfare of the players need to be considered.

maybe there are valid points in your assertion however, you forget to take into consideration the work ross and the coaching team would have done in the prior days since the last game. He would have worked on shape, tactics, patterns of play to exploit their weaknesses and to stop them exposing ours. Set peice work, free kicks looking at videos. So we've lost a lot of time and work to help us achieve a win.

To be fair like I've already said they were far superior to us everywhere. Its a shame the players did not follow the captains example who at 38 put them to shame in work rate, I accept he played at the highest level, but surely as a player you would follow someone like that?
