Selfishness

This outbreak of Covid 19, has brought to my attention, the selfishness of a few people. A good example is the cluster of cases at Brisbane Rd. Some people's first instinct, is, " my God the match is cancelled, what's gonna happen to the tie"? Surely we should show more concern for the people caught up in this cluster of a very nasty and infectious disease. Alright the players are young and fit; but some can still be badly affected. Some are of an ethnic origin, that seem to fare worse than others with this virus. Also I am sure that there are older workers and perhaps some with a similar waist line to my own, that work on the periphery of the club. Let us not forget how contagious this disease is. Then, there is the worry of the players who find they have the virus; what of their relatives, friends and other contacts?
I do think the clamour to have our favourite sport and entertainment back , has led to an unseemly haste in trying to restore normality. I look at some of the scenes at the FA Cup matches and despair. I think it is time for a bit of a re-think, and involve thinking of others and the awful consequences.

Good post. Let’s be honest about this, if it wasn’t our club playing Mansfield and another, the kindest thing you could say is that they have been reckless. What doctor looked at 12 of our squad or however many it is and said, “fine lads, just a touch of the sniffles”

Also think a lot of people have called the club out in their handling of the matter and have said if the shoe was on the other foot we'd have every right to be livid.

AS for the owners their stuck between a rock and hard place.

Apple Wumble:- it ain't everyone. Even BoJo had a road to Damascus moment, when he was discharged from hospital. Expect that it is long forgotten about. I see NHS worker are fed up and leaving in droves: they are overworked, under appreciated, under paid etc. They can get more money with their qualifications, helping the banks shift dodgy money around the World. Maybe someday all people will take a wider view.

I feel as a nation we have become more selfish, and number 1 is all that matters.
Even on these boards, many comments over the last few months have shown a real selfish streak.
The way some people are quite happy putting others at risk from covid, by their actions etc
Twice, I've asked people in supermarkets, who weren't wearing a mask, why they weren't, and both times I was told to f*** off.
We are in such different times at the moment, yet so many act as if nothings amiss

Persoanlly think that their should be someone on the door of supermarkets asking people to wear masks.

Their should also be an official exemption card issued by the government (doesn't have to say what your problem is) issued.

I know people don't like it but it would solve a lot of problems.

He had some faux 'moment' because he almost died and was probably playing on the sympathy.

A lot of the people who mocked Labours policies in December around investment in services and free stuff (magic money tree and all that) because in order to help poor and people in need, they'd have to pay £10 more tax a month are some of the same people desperate to get hold of furlough money, and calling for an extension to it.

People are selfish AND shortsighted. The I'm alright Jack brigade suddenly aren't alright anymore.

If you can't wear a mask, make them wear one of the face visor things. Problem sorted.

No, the OP was saying everyone has been asking about the tie and not mentioned the players. Nigel didn’t mention how the players who tested positive are doing.

I think both are natural reactions, I don’t think anyone is selfish for asking about the tie or mentioning the impact on the club.

Doing the right thing is debatable really but it’s pointless going over that again.

There have been numerous comments by the Club that have stated
All staff affected are at home & self isolating ,
Are we that selfish that we need hourly or daily updates
From the individuals instead of allowing them time to just get better !
