Playing a weakened team in a cup game will only potentially impact the club as they are the only ones who can be affected by being knocked out.StepneyO wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 2:54 pm I struggle to see how we can stand on two legs saying we can play the kids tonight v spurs (to secure sky cash) but cannot play the kids against walsall?
Surely if we can field a team against spurs, we can also field a team against Walsall - especially considering its away from home.
Ah - okay that does make perfect sense. Thank you! Playing a weakened team in a league game can affect the integrity of the whole season. That's why there are rules against it.
Liverpool played their EFL Cup game at Villa last season with the youth team but their league game at West Ham was postponed.
Which makes a mockery of EFL Caraboa cup rulesOrnchurch wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 3:18 pmPlaying a weakened team in a cup game will only potentially impact the club as they are the only ones who can be affected by being knocked out.StepneyO wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 2:54 pm I struggle to see how we can stand on two legs saying we can play the kids tonight v spurs (to secure sky cash) but cannot play the kids against walsall?

It was Liverpool. Who would be brave enough to ask them to forfeit because they were playing in the Club World Cup?tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 3:29 pmWhich makes a mockery of EFL Caraboa cup rulesOrnchurch wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 3:18 pmPlaying a weakened team in a cup game will only potentially impact the club as they are the only ones who can be affected by being knocked out.StepneyO wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 2:54 pm I struggle to see how we can stand on two legs saying we can play the kids tonight v spurs (to secure sky cash) but cannot play the kids against walsall?

Each Club shall play its full available strength in and during all Cup Competition matches, unless some satisfactory reason is given. The Board will from time to time issue a policy as to what constitutes 'full available strength'. In the event of the explanation not being deemed satisfactory the Management Committee shall have power to impose such penalties as they shall think fit. The provisions governing disciplinary matters in relation to the Competition are contained in Rule 24.

Then postponed the league game.
This is what makes the EFL a laughing stock
Which is exactly the reason we arent going to forfeit .Ornchurch wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 3:42 pmExactly.
My point was who would ask Liverpool to forfeit the EFL Cup when their first team squad was occupied elsewhere?
It was widely accepted that they could play a weakened team in the Cup and then postpone the following league game so why couldnt Orient play the youth team tonight and cancel on Saturday?

Possibly because Brisbane Road is closed and PH Waltham Forest would not allow it to be used
Nigel said on radio that PHWF wouldn't allow them to open the ground for tonight's gametuffers#1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 3:58 pmLOFC closed the ground spenspen666 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 3:47 pmOrnchurch wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 3:42 pm
