Coulson to blame for the 2nd goal .
Terrible clearance & then he left the huge space at the back .
What was Brophy doing ?

Re: HIGHLIGHTS: Leyton Orient 2-2 Mansfield Town
I am not picking out anyone here for the sake of it but Ling needs to have a word with himself. The second goal he is wandering around in some sort of trance (he did not wave his arms about my mistake). And the first, yes of course it’s Brophys fault but watch the penalty. He looks at the man that is likely to run in if the goalie saves it and doesn’t get tight as he runs past or tell Coulson to watch him. Neither of those incidents are problems with him as a footballer necessarily. He just doesn’t seem that interested.

I know you’re only doing this as part of your pro Ling campaign but some people won’t realise that and you’re embarrassing yourself.

Lots of people fail to cover themselves in glory during that - Dayton, Cisse, Happe all sloppy.redintheface wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 8:18 am- so far I’ve seen three separate individuals “ blamed” for the second Mansfield goal ; Ling, Happe and now Coulson! Any more candidates?

But it’s mainly down to Ling. Just watch him and only him during the whole of that clip. His contribution is laughable.
Coulson is the only one not to blame, as it happens. Ignore tuffers wumming.

Re: HIGHLIGHTS: Leyton Orient 2-2 Mansfield Town
What concerned me about yesterday was the lack of chances created, especially in the second half for our strikers.
We had very little width and so hardly any crosses went into the box until the last 10 mins when we scored.
I remember fans used to criticise Jake Caprice when he was with us.........He wasn’t the greatest defender but his overlapping runs and dangerous crosses caused the opposition all sorts of problems and we scored a lot of goals from that.
Brophy made up for his mistake with the great run for Ruel’s tap in, and if played further forward could be more creative in my opinion. Ling doesn’t often get forward but maybe that’s what he’s told to do, ie concentrate on defending.

Re: HIGHLIGHTS: Leyton Orient 2-2 Mansfield Town
On watching that back, Ling wasn't primarily to blame. The bloke that crosses it is Cisses man. He loses track of him as he drifts in behind. It still does prove to me that Ling doesn't have a 'defenders instinct'. As highlighted in other threads, not only is he just standing in no mans land when Coulson wins the ball and not on the back foot expecting a ball in behind, he then wanders to the edge of the box, with no Mansfield player near him and just stands there rather than either going towards the ball to help or to get int he box to mark someone.

Totally agree with you Wumble, Ling seems to be in a trance most of the time.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 9:31 am On watching that back, Ling wasn't primarily to blame. Re: HIGHLIGHTS: Leyton Orient 2-2 Mansfield Town
For the first goal, Brophy completely loses his concentration, seems like he is in a day dream. In that sort of situation, if in trouble, a defender just knocks it off for a throw in, so simple to do, that is how to play the defensive role effectively. If in trouble, keep it tight, do not take chances like that and concentrate on what you are doing and try not to get caught in two minds. For our first goal, Dayton is where he is at his best, on the right wing and puts in a decent cross, end result we score ! Second goal, Brophy is doing what he does best, not defending as a fullback but in the wing position going on a mazy run in the opponents penalty area, result we score. Lessons to be learnt ?

He didnt . Im not blaming him for the goal as other teams are
Looking to score .
The obsession to blame 1 player is understandable
Considering the HATRED that is continuously thrown at him

Coulson isn’t a one man team. He beat his man to the ball and cleared. He has every right to rely on others in the team to back him up. They didn’t. Cisse got beat, it happens. Coulson dashed back but not fast enough. Ling, no idea what he was doing. Not covering a player, not backing up Cisse, hanging around looking.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 11:44 amIf Coulson clears the ball properly , ie hoofs.it upfield , the danger is averted

Sadly in my mind that represents his game. Rarely involved, doesn’t take responsibility, plods about avoiding tackles or even taking people on. Unless he had to. A passenger. An onlooker. Leaves the real stuff to others. But the odd good thing.
Still, I get bored with the ling stuff. First name on the team sheet unless being rested. He don’t need to try too hard.

He beat a man to the ball & let it go straight to the opposition who then exposed his space .Dohnut wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 1:51 pmCoulson isn’t a one man team. Coulson doesnt dash anywhere ( wish he had a yard more pace) .
Had Couls just thundered into the ball upfield or into touch , the danger is averted.
Dont think I am blaming Coulson though .
None of the back four covered themselves in glory
Our back line wasnt straight it was crooked .
A unit needs to be solid in its line 1st above field positioning .
If you do that then your defence can work far better.

Happe was as much hope to blame, he sees Cook to his left then and then makes no effort to stay with him leaving him an easy tap in.

Bullseye, a plodder ''tis true''
I think that Sam's game has gone backwards since re-joing the Os from the ''Daggers''
Not that bad when he started here but steadily got worse as time goes on. Now in his own little bubble and in this game when caught out of position, not motivated enough to run back hard, just strolls back.

Coulson wins the intitial challenge, he's done his bit.
What then happens is not one but two Mansfield players beat Dayton to the loose ball and exploit the hole left by Ling.
Again difficult to blame Dayton, he's not a ball winning central midfielder, he's a winger being played out of position.

Re: HIGHLIGHTS: Leyton Orient 2-2 Mansfield Town
I'm amazed at how much stick Coulson, Ling and Happe get about this goal compared to Cisse. He loses his man and then gets beat by him - when he should be trying to hold the player up. If Coulson had Brophy's pace he wouldn't be back covering in time; Ling does what he's been trained to do and covers the edge of the box whilst Happe has too many options to cover. If Cisse waits a second or two then he has cover in both Coulson and the line whilst everyone else gets a little more organised. In the dressing room Cisse holds his hands up and none of the staff look for blame elsewhere.Chicken Dhansak wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 10:26 amTotally agree with you Wumble, Ling seems to be in a trance most of the time.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 9:31 am On watching that back, Ling wasn't primarily to blame. When Dayton was in the position he is used to playing ( on the wing ) he put over a good cross that ended up with DJ scoring.
In the dying moments of the game, Brophy pushed up onto on the left wing ( his best position ) weaved through the opposition in the penalty area, and put the ball through to Ruel who was again in his favoured position as a central twin striker ( not on the left wing ! ) and Ruel scored from close range ! Case of three players being at their most effective when in the position where they are best suited at playing !

If The other 3 step up when Coulson goes for the ball the any ball over the top into the sapce
Will be caught offside, Happe turns back to goal , ling stands where he is then turns because Happe
Is going back , & brophy then turns back to .
All Step up when Coulson goes for the ball . Its as simple as that !
