Favourite ever team nothing to do with decades !

Post by KC & sunshine band »

John Jacksom - stonewall Mr reliable hands like shovels. made save that brought you out of your seat

Phil Hoadley - Even if it was just for the goal against Chelsea, great player
Henry Mancini - what a centre half, dont come back from many of them tackles
Peter Bennet - underrated great tackler - man to man marker - hard player
Dennis Rofe - run up and down the line forever, good crossed of the ball, not many got past Rofe

Barrie Fairbrother - constant menace with pace and tricks
Peter Allen - One of me big favourites. Every time I see him I mention that goal against Luton, what a player
Paddy Grealish - Bundle of hassling energy. Would bustle and hustle and make it look easy
Barry Dyson - tackle, run and scored some smashing goals

Peter Kitchen - Goals Goal and Goals - gentleman
Micky Bullock - Led the line like a war horse - great header of the ball Like an immovable boulder

Manager George Petchey
Asst manager John Gorman
Coach Peter Angell

Bench

Its been nearly 50 years of watching & reading about everything Orient & to be fair to myself
the only 2 obvious choices are McAussie & the ⚫pearl .

The other 9 could of been filled twice over, hopefully the subs feel just as privelaged even
Though our U-21 N.I international became the 1st for us .

I feel a fair spattering of all decades from 1881 -2020/21 are represented
As is the 1 for the future marked out in my special selection
as 1st replacement substitute ( not listed) .

Well we are talking post covid arent we
Unusual times indeed !

Almost certainly not the best but my favourite is the 1988/89 promotion side. As a scouser who moved into student digs by Leyton station, whose first game was a 2-2 draw against non-league Enfield (we went out the following week at their gaff) I probably wouldn't be supporting them today if it wasn't for the roller-coaster ride that was March 1989 onwards.
