Team v Oldham
Vigaroux
Thomas Turley Happe Brophy
Cisse
Clay Jobi Dayton
Ruel Johnson
Slight formation change from the current 4-1-4-1 to a 4-1-3-2. Ruel is the best we have at the target man role and is wasted outside. Johnson can’t do it on his own but has to play as he has that habit of scoring goals.
Clay, Jobi and Dayton have enough energy to get backwards ad forwards. Cisse instructed to just sit.

Re: Team v Oldham
Would swap Wright for clay and JMD for Dayton but agree with the rest.
Unfortunately can’t see Ling or Coulson being dropped and wouldnt begrudge wilko getting the start after 2 in 2

Re: Team v Oldham
Basing it on tonight mate.
Wright was anonymous. JMD much more lively out of the pair, both on and off the ball.
I like Wilko but he’s not disciplined enough out wide, JMD does the dirty work hat he won’t. The collapse came after he came on and the damage was done all top down our right flank.

The new kid is really tidy on the ball as you’d expect. He’s going to be good for us.

Re: Team v Oldham
Agree about Wright being anonymous and given his dead ball skills Embleton need to find a way to play JMD, though he' can't tackle and wouldn't be my choice as the player protecting Ling or Brophy (who will both play). Crosses were coming in all night from the left so a bit unfair on Wilkinson who has to start.RedO wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 9:29 pm Basing it on tonight mate.

Re: Team v Oldham
Could play JMD instead of Dayton, I guess - gives us more going forward but leaves us weaker when without the ball.jamespevans wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 9:42 pmAgree about Wright being anonymous and given his dead ball skills Embleton need to find a way to play JMD, though he' can't tackle and wouldn't be my choice as the player protecting Ling or Brophy (who will both play). I like Wilko too but just don’t know where to play him.

Re: Team v Oldham
Hard game to judge him but he does look good. But it’s unlikely he will get a start at Oldham having done the full 90 Tuesday. And Ling did Ok. I can see Thomas doing the Tuesday games for a while.

Re: Team v Oldham
I agree it’s unlikely. But he did enough to show he’s worthy of a start at Oldham. That first half was one way traffic and he stood up to the test just fine. Second half when we got to play a bit of football, he put in some really good forward passes. Every time he gets the ball he looks to go forwards, not back to the centre half or keeper which is how it should be.

Not necessarily what I'd want to see but more how i think RE will go. It's the first league game and it's away at a 'name' club (relative to FL2) so RE will be conservative and defensive minded. Thomas was knackered last night so he has some fitness catching up to do. JMD and Wilkinson don't get back to cover as readily as Wright and Angol - but it's marginal.

This is my forecast although I would choose Turley after last night's set piece plays

Re: Team v Oldham
He demonstrated last night that he can’t play that role. This cannot happen.
Hopefully Hector will be back fit soonish and steps in as his replacement as and when needed.

Re: Team v Oldham
Nope.
What did he do well? (The goal apart, obvs!)
