They will not be eligible for consideration fir parole fir a minimum 8f 16 and 22 years.

Even after that period, they will only be freed if they satisfy Parole Board they pose no threat .

No idea why you are inventing nonsense about them being freed in 8 years.

They were sentenced to life imprisonment with minimum terms of 16 and 22 years, not 8 tears.

Minimum terms are exactly what they say on the tin. They are not eligible for consideration for release before that term is up

If you want a debate about sentencing, then at least get the basic facts correct

My understanding of life with a minimum means having served the minimum the offenders are not automatically free, they can be detained longer if felt to still be a threat.

If they were given fixed sentences, but not life, then the considerations for parole are different and at the end of their sentence they are freed.

Life can actually mean life.

I wonder if the perpetrators, having ended their victim's life: effectively destroyed the victim's family's lives, and now realise they've pretty much wasted their own lives, think it was "worth it"

That's a lot of lives ruined.

I doubt they do a lot of thinking.

Life always means life.

A life sentence means that you can never serve it and be free. Even if you are released from prison you will always be monitored by the probation service and can be recalled to prison.

For some of them it would take them longer to produce 8 genuine tears than a life sentence

Politico- are lefties only compassionate when it comes to criminals? This was a truly horrific crime. In case you still can't be bothered to read it, some intoxicated teenagers attacked a man with a sword and tried to behead him, then one of them wrote a rap about it.

I actually meant couldn't be bothered to read the responses and my point was that the phrase I used is oft overused no matter the sentence, but I've read the report now and apologise. My response was far too glib for such a serious and heinous crime. My mistake, hands up.

P.S Still compassionate to the killers, in answer. I hope they are treated with dignity and respect AND never walk the streets again.

If I was a Spen666 I'd blame it on the narcotics.

Yep, I want everyone to be treated with dignity and respect. Even the worst of us. It's a slippery slope when we do different.

I used to defend, these days I prosecute.

I couldn't tell you what I would have advised as I have no idea what the evidence was or their defence was. However with a murder case, there is only one possible sentence upon conviction - ie life imprisonment, so no discount for an early guilty plea available. I can understand why defendants run even the most hopeless cases as they have nothing to lose

Yeah, but have you seen their haircuts? There's no dignity and respect in that.

Give me a break!!...you want them treated with dignity and respect just like the dignity and respect they showed poor Mr Wilson. When i read the report of what that man went through in the last 10 minutes of his life being constantly, ferociously and violently stabbed to death whilst these two pieces of sh*t shrilled with excitement. They tried to decapitate the defenceless man and ridiculed his words has he pleaded for his life.
Just imagine what the thoughts of Mr Wilson were as he knew he was about to die and not see or hear he's loved ones again as these two celebrated thier actions. I felt emotionally sick and could not imagine how his wife and family are coping.
I dont want those two murderers to breathe and i am not interested in thier rights or the opinions of people who offer them any.
If that makes me a bad person, i'll live with that.
