Paul McCallum

Bit of a clamour about getting him back to after a cameo at Barnet. What intrigues me is why did Solihull go on loan to Barnet in January if he was doing well there. They, after all were a main rival.

I would endorse this move. Great in the air and different to what we currently have.
Much better than Sotiriou.

He certainly played well against us for Eastleigh, but other than for us mostly in non league or out on loan when at West Ham

On many points, disagree on your comparison with Ruel. For just one thing Ruel is buzzing and constantly on the move and finding space for himself. Yes Paul is great in the air but really lacking in mobility.

Hasn't he got glass legs? That seemed to be the opinion when we last signed him.

If Paul liked living and playing in London and the south east, wonder why he went and joined Solihull ?

Would be a decent Harrold replacement.

Injury prone including a had a bad knee injury when playing for us. Cox and Paul both badly injured their knees within weeks of each other doing so.

Both good in the air but Harrold was more of a worker and team player.

Danny Senda will know him from Barnet.

Thought we should have signed him before Solihull a year or so back.
He consistently finds the net and can hold the ball up, something than none of our strikers can do. His attitude and work ethic is questionable but i think he's been relatively fit recently so i'd be all for it.

You're meant to say 'injury prone and lazy? Sounds like Lings dream player'.

I believe that we have tried to resign him in the recent past but he turned us down, so I cant see anything happening now

A six figure signing on fee by all accounts .
He was a free agent after Eastleigh.
They stumped up big money for him .
Him & Flowers were supposed to have kicked off a few times , something about the most expensive piece of
Equipment in the physios room .

Always thought he was a bit of a poseur, but as said above he is really good in the air, and could take a darn good throw in too – trouble is we wanted him taking the throws and being on the end of them!

He commits a lot of fouls
At non league level he gets away with it and consequently is effective
At league level he gets away with far less and this is frustrating when promising attacks breakdown because he has given away yet another free kick

Please no. In order for him to be successful he needs wingers who can cross and a strike partner prepared to do his work for him. Then we end up with a mid-table finish and a reliance on one man.

Another "No" here. Stands around like a lamp-post most of the time.
Injury prone, questionable attitude (toys out of pram at Solihull), and I'm sure we can do better..

Paul McCallum turned in one of the great attacking centre-forward performances on his return to Brisbane Road with Eastleigh
For that alone he has my undying respect
Unlike Eboue Adams, McCallum came here to prove a point with his skills and not shithousery.
Whilst he may be too risky to re-sign I think he does have plenty to offer at the right club (provided he can avoid injury)

That is a very good point Fred, he was excellent that night.

His team still lost though.
Outdone by the marvellous football of Sam Ling creating the winner .

It's called big money Sid, Solihull had it and they paid it. Think some people will be surprised what signing on fees/wages are paid in divs 1,2 and non league.
