No Pain, No Gain?

A pleasant Saturday morning walkies with my dog and I noticed something, I had seen before, but it got me thinking. There were quite a few groups involved in organised training. over the far side of the park there were quite young girls playing football. The loud shrieks from the male coaches could be heard all over the park.
I walked around a public playing field, that over the years Thurrock Rugby Club has tried to claim as their own property, Without success as it ain't their's.. In one corner a bunch of young ladies were being put through their paces. I thought somewhat vigorously. The male trainers were hurling abuse at them, making them do press-ups then sprinting and so on, at a relentless pace.
My thoughts: why so many males instructing females? why is it so less frequent to see males undergoing this sort of public humiliation? Do these guys have official creditation? Why do the girls allow themselves to undergo this torture ? Perhaps they are soon to marry or similar and see this is as quick way to loose the pounds. But I thought Weddings were more or less banned as public occasion.
When I was in my yoof, I enjoyed training for sprinting, but always on my own. I liked cycling it gave me loads of pleasure on and off until I was 70. Swimming the same. I just can't see the women keeping up the masochism for any prolonged time, so I thought it a bit futile.
Mostly I worry why so many men are involved training women. Anyone else got any views?

to be a coach or a manager you need to have at least the following.
Level 1 coaching badge
Emergency first aid
Child protection
There are other courses you can take to further your education say on defensive zones or such like.
As for them getting them doing press up and running etc. That's old school, its neither encouraged or practised these days. For example you are not supposed to make kids 12 or under do any physical work unless its with a ball at their feet, so no shuttles for example.
The training has moved on as has the care side to coaching. When i was a kid you got run into the ground. Do that today and you'll likely be asked to leave not just by the club but by the parents as well. Today its all about technical skills first. I would say its getting better as is the coaching of kids.

A fair amount of playing experience helps as well.

Sounds like a very old school approach but it’s the same with men training men. When I’ve played I and all the other lads have had the same treatment from some sadistic fanny.
Good to see these coaches aren’t discriminating based on gender. A step closer to achieving true equality

Perhaps I didn't make it plain. Are these coaches you see out on the park " official ". I guess the one with Thurrock ladies is " official ", as he berated one lady for not being out in front in the sprinting "----- why aren't you leading as you are one of the team?" Has any bloke on here ever been out in public being trained and slagged off?

Haven’t you heard of Boot Camps for fitness. People pay stupid big money to get shouted at for a day, weekend, week or a morning/afternoon a week to lose weight and/or get fit.

Always thought that if you need someone to shout at you while doing exercise your seriously lacking in motivation.

Also theirs not that many female football coaches my daughter was training before lockdown and out of the 20 coaches only one of the senior ones was female and their were two younger teenage girls who were earning their badges.

I used to love all the exercises we did when football training. Cross country runs, running up and down a steep slope, physical exercises work on the ball. After 4 weeks ( this was in my late teens and very early 20s ) of pre season training we started on the friendlies, one in the mid-week and another at the weekend plus 5 a side games, OMG I was so fit then, used to love playing in the hot weather, could play in midfield and run hard for 90 minutes, lovely stuff, I felt so fit as if I could jump over a wall, then when playing my best ever, I stupidly sprinted for around 25 yards to win a 50/50 ball, we both got to the ball at the same time, the other guy was built like a tank, a real cruncher, dont know if he went over the top, took my right knee out whatever, torn ligaments and that was me finished as a good footballer, I was playing so well at the time as well....damn it ! Tried to play a basic game at full back after that, right knee kept going as soon as I turned on my right leg. 23 years old and finished, so then I just ran teams for around ten years.
I spent a lot of time talking to my players about trying to minimize the risk of injuries and one of my players, who became a close friend, is still playing 3 times a week at the age of 65 years old, if only that could have been me !
