The government has advised that the pilot scheme That allowed some fans into targeted cricket matches as a trial had been suspended. Probably means no crowds in grounds until next years the whole scheme is likely to be set back.

not sure how long they can keep doing this it will mean that several industries (sports & entertainment) will be on the brink of collapse shortly.

Personally for me it's getting to the point where maybe all those who aren't deemed to be vulnerable should be able to make a choice as to whether they attend events or not.

Also all the restrictions on what can and can't be done will increase people's mental health issue which could cause another strain on the health service.

Whilst I don't agree with any of the ways the governments 'dealt' with this - to me it doesn't make sense that I can go and sit in a park surrounded by hundreds or thousands of people, pop into starbucks and get a coffee, sit in nando's and get my lunch, go home on the train but I cant sit in an outdoor stadium (with reduced capacity so everyones distanced). No consistency.

The problems are not sitting in the stadium it's getting in and more particularly out again and being able to use toilets and food facilities safely. Distancing fans within the grounds is relatively simple as Surrey proved at the Oval last weekend.

The problems are not sitting in the stadium it's getting in and more particularly out again and being able to use toilets and food facilities safely. Distancing fans within the grounds is relatively simple as Surrey proved at the Oval last weekend.

But people use toilets in restaurants...in fact the government have the discount thing coming in from Monday to encourage people. There's also public toilets in parks being used by thousands a day. There's thousands of people going into supermarkets every day. I dont really see the big difference, especially as its all outdoor.

Going to the loo at half time you can have dozens of people queuing and in the JES there is only one entrance/exit. I would imagine even with only a few hundred people in the stand it would be impossible to socially distance. At full time people queue on the steps to get out and there is a bottle neck at the exit. It's these problems the working group has been working on. I want to get back to watch games asap, but it needs to be safely structured.

Like everyone else I have given up trying to understand the governments rational which is mixed up but taking football grounds and Brisbane Road in isolation you can see the issues.

Agree.

I guess my point is that i dont see it as much difference as the other 'rules' which are farcical and not enforced.

Agreed . This inconsistency is really irritating

But we get to watch Orient on TV. (Probably) Fine by me. Nice comfy armchair, few tinnies and if we are playing sh*t I can flick over to Netflix. What’s not to like.

Sadly the people who they come into contact with after they have caught the virus at the event will have no choice in the matter.

This is the same government that is trying to get people into restaurants with a discount from presumably us taxpayers.
The same government that is trying to pressure all children to attend school and employees to 'go into the office'.
That's when their emphasis is on telling us "There is no problem. It's 'business as usual'."

100% Targeted by the government in my opinion. Shameful. Showed an article on the news where all the bars and clubs of Manchester were full as before (this was last night btw and is still allowed in those parts even despite local restrictions) And yet people in that same area (Greater Manchester) were forbidden by new legislation to get together to celebrate Eid. How can that not possibly be seen as targeted?

Yet more dangerous policy making from our divide & rule Tory leaders.
