Following the cancellation of The Eurovision Song Contest we thought we would have an Orient themed song contest.
If you have or can write a song about Orient (it has to be supportive and not contain profanity) record a demo on mp3 and send it to us via a DM on Twitter to @theorienthour or email me andy.gilson@yahoo.co.uk and mark it Orient Song.
We will give it a play on air and the best effort will be played before kick off on matchday at Brizzie. The club have agreed to this subject to the song having the criteria mentioned above. So what are you waiting for, get writing

It took you nearly 3 months after Eurovision's original date to think of this?

What Orient covers could be done?
I'll start with:
It's All So Quiet by Bjork
You Win Again by the Bee Gees

Yes, because somebody might think a bit of sarcasm amusing. But for the purposes of this, it's simply a supportive song. A chance for a songwriter to get it played on air and at the stadium, and a bit of fun. Lighten up.

I don't think anything will ever beat 'Leyton Orient Scored More Goals Than Any Other Fourth Division Team in 88/89' by "Funky" Lol Ross.

by KC & sunshine band
Back by popular demand
The KC entrant is -
sung to the tune of the laughing policeman - I give you the cheeky chappy
I am a cheeky chappy, they all laugh at what I say
Even though most of them are all in total dismay
Im sure that some dont rate me and think that Im a fool
If only I had listened to Dad and tried kicking a football
Best fans in the world though all of them are really lovely folk
And they all agree Im doing me best and I am really a top bloke
I um and r, repeat myself and try to be very brave
I deflect questions, scratch me head, and say thank you very much to Dave
I love it when all the fans shout Embleton together they all sing
I get so excited I run upstairs and tell my Uncle Martin Ling
Cos Im a cheeky chappy, it makes no rhyme or reason
But you all better get used to it, cos I will still be here next season !
It dont get better than this !!

Good grief!
A few seasons ago at half time they filmed a โcomedy showโ where a bloke came on at half time singing something like โI love the refereeโ and his film crew were recording the excruciating expressions of embarrassment on the fanโs faces.
Perhaps we can arrange for you to come on at half time and sing your song? I can honestly say I was cringing reading the words to it ,so you will most likely have an even better response from the crowd than that comedian bloke.
One thing for sure if it is publicised in advance about your appearance, the local โconvenience stores โ should deplete their stocks of rotten tomatoes.
How long did it take you to come up with that offering as a matter of interest?

Why do the club not play Son of my Father by Chicory Tip and simply mute the chorus so we can sing โ0rrie, Orrie, Orrie Orientโ? Cheesey right enough, but practised at other clubs. (Different songs, obviously)
