Was Kent at a Trump Rally?

Only there's more empty seats than people in the stand.

Some of it is good in regards to how the club will operate next season especially from Danny Macklin but the answer on transfers is worrying.

On signings:
Nigel said it's like we have 2 new signings because Cisse signed permanently and Jobi signed a new contract; "he's like a new signing". His quote on Cisse was hilarious too. We were "In competition with potentially other clubs" to sign him . Were we in competition with other clubs or not? He also confirmed we were looking to strengthen at centre back and a striker which is disappointing to hear, if it ends there. The full back positions need strengthening badly (and have done for years). Kent said "we make our team better every window". That's not the case, every window we're left with holes in the squad and quantity doesn't mean quality.

The academy:
Kent said the academy loses money every year and breaks even over a 10 year period. The only way the academy makes money when players are sold. Begs the question why these young talents aren't rewarded with longer contracts to get good money for them once they are sold.

On preseason:
It was said that we've been approached by a few Premier League u23 teams to play some preseason games and it was hinted by Kent that we'll be playing higher quality teams because they won't be traveling abroad on their preseason tours. He said there are options we didn't have in the pasts and they'll be trying to take advantage of options and relationships if possible. Spurs? Scouse fannies?

New investors:
For the foreseeable future Kent and Nigel "will be the face of the club". Nigel then talks up the club and where the club can be with the plans they have. So they're looking to sell the club in the next few years then.

I enjoyed that. There has been a few these sessions, which hasn`t been very interesting, but I thought this was quite good.

We have an England international C level full back & a pretty decent back-up on the right
We have an experienced title winning left back & a youth with massive potential .

Thats 2 players for each position

11 starting players at 2 per position leaves 3 other position for players to come into
who maybe a little more utility or something else.
That seems decent enough to me .

Neither right back is good enough. I’d be happy to go into the season with Widdowson and Ogie. As I said quantity is not quality with the rest of it.

Aren’t I? How many teams target Sam Ling with a ball over the top of him? All of them.

I agree . I think at LB we're OK but RB we're weak.

Seems like the club may have made a mistake giving Sam Ling a contract extension. They obviously preffered him over Judd but then put loanee George Marsh in at right back over both of them. That leaves us with two right backs that are not first choice and now were looking for a centre half who can play right back. Lessons not being learnt!

Trouble is Ling still has contract time to run and with limited finances he will have to do for now. I dare say he will always get the nod in front of Judd. Maybe another loan at RB. Or this utility CB who may also cover RB.

As for the QandA. I enjoyed it.

I thought you moaned that he was always to far forward
How can he be beaten over the top if hes to far forward & our midfield lost the ball ?

When Cisse came in he negated the giving the ball away cheaply .

The Ling Hatred continues .

Shocking attitudes really .

My point is instead of keep signing "Jack of all trade Players" we appear to have a position that needs a proven out and out right back. Me personally dont have any "hatred" towards Sam Ling unless you know me better than i know myself Tuffers.
I have had opinions on Ogie, Sotiriou and Cisse this does not mean i hate any current first teamers in thier positions.
I only express a opinion that is formed by myself and not influenced by others but obviously i bow to your journalistic and video expertise.
Off to earn a pound note now!

Pleasantly surprised T&T answered my academy question in such a matter-of-fact way. Pretty much as suspected it doesn't have much of a viable business model behind it if you look in cold hard cash terms.

Would be interested to hear more what the other benefits they talk about are. Does it give us better standing with the FA / EFL for instance? Perhaps one for a future interview.

As for RB we've done well in the past with one side being an attacking player (Daniels, Lockwood) and the other being more of a bruising solid defensive type (Whing, Cuthbert). Would be happy to see Turley / another player in a similar mould at RB with Brophy doing the attacking down the other side.

Have to Applaud Kent & Nigel for there Appreciation of
Mart8n Ling & all his hard work ,
Nigel is a Loyal Loyal O's supporter & kent just has
grown into a true O's Nut .

May it long be so .

Be nice to see Martin have his son manage the club one day
I think Kent would love that after Sam retires in a decade or so .

Thanks for your thoughts Ada, it’s a lovely opinion, but inherently wrong.
