Re: Essex CCC
Well that was an interesting day. But in view of the state of the wicket, I think Essex are still in pole position. A target of 200+ will be a tough ask when Notts bat again.

I still think Essex are still in pole position. Whatever the target will be it'll be a tough ask for the 4th innings, especially if Harmie gets the ball turning.
Re: Essex CCC
They've done really well today, especially since lunch. A target of over 300 could be beyond Notts. Early wickets with the new ball could set things up.

Re: Essex CCC
Did very well to stretch the lead but the pitch played OK from what I saw of yesterday’s play. Looks two evenly matched teams . Today could be a very good days cricket.

Re: Essex CCC
Essex are facing a probable points deduction after the umpires asked to inspect Feroze Kushni’s bat yesterday and it was found to exceed the maximum size allowed.
There is a precedent as Durham were deducted 10 points for a player using an oversized blade in a previous sesaon.
A bad mistake to make.

Re: Essex CCC
Cook a 4fer and a 6fer. match figures of 10 - 73 but it Still won't be enough to get an England call up.
Thought he looked half a yard quicker in this match than anything last season.

Re: Essex CCC
What a brilliant performance - even our batting, don't write us off until the last man is out or we declare. Cook is amazing at red ball cricket. He's the replacement for Anderson, but don't know when that's going to happen. Khushi needs to get his head round 4 day batting. If he did he'd be a great asset, as would Charlie Allison - noticed there's a ton for him in the 2nds. All very promising for 2024! Anyone know why Pepper was keeping in Notts' 2nd innings? I missed most of the stream and only caught some on a computer that didn't have sound!

Re: Essex CCC
One has to ask, how the f*** does something like that happen. Even this early in the season, that could cost them dearly.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 11:43 am Essex are facing a probable points deduction after the umpires asked to inspect Feroze Kushni’s bat yesterday and it was found to exceed the maximum size allowed.

Re: Essex CCC
Gray and Nicholls have made a bat that's ECB illegal. Somehow Khushi got it. Did he know? Does the club do checks? Who's fault is it.

Ultimately it is the clubs responsibility to ensure equipment is legal, it should be checked before competitive fixtures begin.

That was my thought, what a waste of money on G&N's part.Highwood Man wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 4:48 pmWhy would you make a bat that's illegal? Very strange.
