scraped thru to a win. well done lads.
now top of the table, but probably not for long. but we are keeping Surrey on their toes.

Re: Essex CCC
Well done Essex - thoroughly deserved in a low scoring match where the pitch was a bitch. Currently top of the table, but nothing seems to be stopping Surrey - looking at an innings victory.

Re: Essex CCC
Time for the youngsters to step up to join the 4 or 5 first team regulars that are not in the 100 or don't play one day. Then Snater's injured. It will be interesting!

Re: Essex CCC
I would do away with the hundred , sure it benefits the players financially but I have yet to meet a cricket fan who thinks it’s a good idea. I would keep it as a woman’s competition only.
An independent auditor looked at the figures last season and rather than pumping money into the game as the ECBwould have us believe it’s costing net millions a year all money lost to the game. To me it’s a vanity project for a few at the ECB.

Can't see how the 100 enhances anyone's enthusiasm for Championship, 50 over stuff and - club cricket. We're told that they want to bring more and more youngsters into playing cricket, but giving them expectations that it's always going to be like 100. T20 is enough - really don't want any more. I was at Essex's T20 match with Glamorgan. Couldn't get on with all the razzmatazz and banalities from the P/A people - whether in English or Welsh!

Re: Essex CCC
In other news Essex have signed Jordan Cox on a three year contract from Kent joins next spring. A good signing I think.

Re: Essex CCC
Adam Rossington's replacement, methinks and to let Pepper concentrate on his batting, though rather unfair on Buttleman.

Re: Essex CCC
I’m looking forward to a good day at Chelmsford on Thursday for the One Day Cup. Fingers crossed for decent and warm weather.
I can’t get into The 100.

I second that alway gave 100% and 600 wickets is a wonderful achievement. Became only the second player in test history to hit the last ball he faced for six.

Re: Essex CCC
We have a lot of youngsters in the team today. The bowlers have already been hammered and the batsmen aren't doing too good so far, Josh Rymell is already out.
I think Westley & Porter are the only capped players that are playing today.
And I was looking forward to a nice "winning" day at Chelmsford on Thursday.

Re: Essex CCC
Lot of youngsters - but a number of them played last year and have played in the T20. Das, for eg has just got out and the bowlers don't seem to have learned much over the winter and T20.

Re: Essex CCC
Sun shining at Chelmsford so far. Essex won toss and will bat. Both teams have 3/4 strength teams IMO because so many are with the Hundred. Oh well settling down for a day sitting in sunny intervals.
