He comes across as a somewhat conceited, deluded, and arrogant man. Obviously, I've never worked with the bloke, so I can't say for sure, but based on his press musings this is how he comes across.
The excerpt that Bergen pasted above would seem to confirm this though. He Was a good player, but perhaps just isn't management material. It is widely known that a large part of the job now is man-management, and perhaps Sol just doesn't have that in his locker.

The current climate could be a major factor in upcoming managerial appointments that is why i think someone like Sol will be strongly in the running.

That is true, they were Both basket cases, and he Did have a decent run at Macclesfield, in fairness.

It's one thing "getting" a job though, and perhaps a more stable club might give him a chance still; but another thing keeping it. If he didn't bother to speak to the players, and the existing staff, at Southend as has been rumoured, it would seem he would need to change, or have his work cut out again elsewhere.
