Three dead in Reading mass stabbing

Three people have died and a further three are in hospital with serious injuries after someone went on the rampage with a blade in Reading ☹
PA reporting the suspect is Libyan. Hee was apparently detained by a police officer who rugby tackled the suspect

The Libyans were probably looking for Doc Browns plutonium...anyway, nothing to see here. For the last two weeks everything on the BBC news has been about race and stirring up trouble, we can sure as guarantee race is not relevant here, he had nothing to do with BLM and probably had mental health issues. It’s all good. We can sleep easy tonight.

Police are not currently treating the incident as terror-related, but counter terrorism officers were called.

Police have declared the stabbing attack in Reading in which three people died a "terrorist incident".
A 25-year-old man from Reading was arrested at the scene of the attack at about 19:00 BST on Saturday, which also left three people seriously injured.
Counter-terrorism police are now taking over the investigation, Thames Valley Police said.
Security sources told the BBC the man arrested is thought to be Libyan.

All three victims were gay, surprised the BBC haven't picked up on this.
Doubt it had anything to do with the perpetrator's apparent allegiance to Islamic State though

The press have largely buried this story, just days after it happened because it raises uncomfortable questions.
That the victims were gay is relevant, it's a possible motive for the assailant.
Whether it was a motive may come out in court, or it may never be known.

The fact the three victims were gay men executed by an Islamic extremist asylum seeker makes the narrative much harder
Had this been three other people from a separate minority group slain by a member of National Action the narrative for days (rightly) would've focused on who and why he did this. Extra emphasis would've been placed on the motive and influences
As it wasn't though, they must have been delighted a moron from Burnley gave them a distraction from mass murder to saturate their 24 hour news schedule

I do understand what people mean by how this story has been handled in comparison to certain other headline grabbing events. However, I do have a theory as to why certain aspects of these attacks are being played down. I may be reaching a bit here, but indulge me.
These attackers are clearly deranged, and susceptible to manipulation and undue influence. And they also feed off the notoriety their attacks bring them. Up until a few years ago, Islamist terrorism was a big news event, and something like this would have been dragged out over a week's worth of news, with in-depth useless analysis of the event and the perpetrator.
I think I've noticed that there's a tend for the press to give them less attention, and therefore starve them of the oxygen of publicity. This may be partially due to it becoming normalised, but it may also be because they understand that their sensationalism of these events and the people behind them are not without consequences.
Or, it could be because there's an establishment conspiracy to deny the 'truth'.

It usually has something to do with
giving the defendants a Fair & Free Trial .
Also allows for victims to be represented properly
In a court , as News Stories havent gone over the top.

Yep. agree with Dunners. Also, papers like the Daily Mail are a lot more middle of the road now and since Geordie Grieg took over. You wouldn’t think it as the left still get hysterical but the Mail readership hate their own papers take on most things. The days of screaming headlines about foreigners are gone.

That argument would hold more weight if the perpetrator's motivation was to achieve infamy a la Mark Chapman/Elliot Rodger, but it isn't.
There's an argument that even if that wasn't their motivation we should starve them of publicity anyway to avoid inciting the next attack - That doesnt seem to be working though given this is happening every 6-12 months.
It's so little a story these days that politicians don't feel the need to come out and make the "Not all Muslims/Religion of peace" overtures that were part and parcel of previous mass murder over the last 15 years
